Pay Rate: $40/hour

Conversion Salary: $80,000 annually

Position Overview

We are seeking a Systems Administrator with a strong foundation in IT infrastructure, systems administration, and end-user support, along with some experience administering security software and tools. This individual will help maintain, secure, and optimize the organization’s IT environment while supporting day-to-day operations and infrastructure initiatives.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience managing servers, user accounts, system updates, and network resources, with an interest in contributing to IT security through the administration and monitoring of security platforms. This is a great opportunity for a technically well-rounded IT professional looking to grow their responsibilities across systems administration and security operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows servers, operating systems, user accounts, and core IT infrastructure.
• Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, Microsoft 365, and user access permissions.
• Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity while identifying and resolving infrastructure issues.
• Perform system patching, software updates, configuration changes, and routine maintenance.
• Assist with the administration and monitoring of security software, including endpoint protection, antivirus, endpoint detection and response (EDR), vulnerability management, or other security tools.
• Support security-related activities such as reviewing alerts, managing access controls, assisting with vulnerability remediation, and maintaining system security configurations.
• Help implement and maintain system backups, disaster recovery procedures, and business continuity practices.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, connectivity, and access-related issues across the organization.
• Document system configurations, troubleshooting procedures, and infrastructure changes.
• Collaborate with IT and security teams to improve system reliability, security, and operational efficiency.

Required Qualifications

• Experience in systems administration, infrastructure support, or a similar IT role.
• Working knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, and Microsoft 365.
• Understanding of networking fundamentals, including DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, and VPN connectivity.
• Some hands-on exposure to security software administration, such as endpoint protection, antivirus, EDR, vulnerability management, or access security tools.
• Familiarity with system patching, user permissions, backups, and security best practices.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to document technical processes and communicate effectively with technical and nontechnical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Microsoft Entra ID, Intune, or other endpoint management platforms.
• Exposure to tools such as Microsoft Defender, CrowdStrike, SentinelOne, or similar security solutions.
• Familiarity with vulnerability scanning, security alert review, or remediation workflows.
• Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V.
• Relevant certifications, such as CompTIA Security+, Network+, Microsoft certifications, or equivalent experience.

Contract Details

• Initial Term: 6-month contract with the opportunity to convert to a permanent position.
• Contract Pay Rate: $40/hour.
• Conversion Salary: $80,000 annually.
• Location: Rock Hill, South Carolina.

Candidates should bring a solid systems administration foundation, practical troubleshooting skills, and some exposure to security software management. Deep cybersecurity specialization is not required; the priority is a capable systems administrator who can help maintain reliable, secure IT operations.
