The incumbent serves as the program's configuration management and asset accountability specialist, maintaining accurate records for enterprise hardware, software, licensing, procurement status, and vendor information throughout the system lifecycle. Working closely with engineering, procurement, logistics, cybersecurity, and program management, this position ensures all configuration items remain properly documented, traceable, and compliant with contractual, cybersecurity, and supply chain requirements.

Success in this position requires exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage large volumes of technical data across multiple concurrent projects.

Major Responsibilities

  • Maintain the program Configuration Management Database (CMDB) and configuration records for all hardware, software, virtual assets, licenses, and associated documentation.
  • Maintain accurate Bills of Material (BOMs), Master BOMs (MBOMs), Installation BOMs, Approved Vendor Lists (AVLs), and Approved Product Lists (APLs).
  • Track the complete lifecycle of configuration items from procurement through deployment, sustainment, technology refresh, and disposal.
  • Maintain software licensing inventories, maintenance agreements, support renewals, warranty information, and vendor entitlement records.
  • Coordinate with procurement personnel to reconcile purchase orders, deliveries, licensing, and installed configurations.
  • Verify that deployed systems remain consistent with approved engineering baselines and authorized configurations.
  • Maintain inventory accountability for Government Furnished Equipment (GFE), Contractor Acquired Property (CAP), and program-owned assets.
  • Support Supply Chain Risk Management activities by documenting approved vendors, product substitutions, end-of-life/end-of-support products, and supplier information.
  • Coordinate engineering change documentation and ensure approved changes are reflected within configuration records.
  • Support internal audits, Government inspections, property inventories, and configuration verification activities.
  • Produce recurring reports on asset inventory, licensing compliance, procurement status, hardware lifecycle, and configuration baselines.
  • Assist with development and maintenance of configuration management plans, standard operating procedures, and work instructions.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience supporting configuration management, asset management, logistics, procurement, or technical program support.
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance.
  • Demonstrated experience maintaining highly accurate technical documentation and inventory records.
  • Experience managing hardware inventories, software inventories, or enterprise asset databases.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Excel and enterprise asset management tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting DoD or Federal Government programs.
  • Experience with Configuration Management (CM) principles.
  • Familiarity with CMDBs, ServiceNow, Jira, Confluence, or similar enterprise management tools.

  • Familiarity with NIST SP 800-161 Supply Chain Risk Management concepts.
  • Experience supporting hardware procurement, receiving, and lifecycle management.
  • Knowledge of ITIL Configuration Management practices.
  • Experience supporting engineering organizations or technical operations.

Desired Competencies

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with a commitment to data accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining configuration integrity.
  • Excellent documentation and record-management practices.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, logistics, procurement, cybersecurity, and program management organizations.
