What they need
Company Description Join the Firstgas team and enjoy a career full of good energy and great rewards.
He aha koe ka aroha ai ki a Clarus (Why you'll love Clarus)
At Clarus you’re part of the team of talented specialists helping safely deliver the vital energy New Zealand needs to thrive today and in the future. From starting out in Taranaki our Firstgas, Rockgas, First Renewables, Flexgas and Gas Service NZ operations now span the length and breadth of Aotearoa — so you’re never far away from our good energy. Clarus is investing in opportunities to develop greener alternatives to natural gas and LPG - like partnering with Ecogas to deliver New Zealand’s first renewable biomethane project, and working with other gas distributors to trial hydrogen blending. We care about the communities where we live and work and are guided by principles of inclusiveness, kaitiakitanga and excellence.
Job Description He mea whakamiharo koe Systems Controller - Scheduler? (Are you an amazing Systems Controller - Scheduler?)
We’re looking for a talented professional to join our Systems Operations team in Bell Block. This role is part of a small team who support the safe, reliable and efficient operation of Clarus assets.
This isn’t a traditional work scheduling role - it’s about helping manage the day-to-day commercial operation of our energy assets, working with customers and our Control Room, managing gas nominations and operational data, and responding when things don’t go to plan.
You can expect to:
- manage customer nominations and support system balancing, capacity, outages and curtailments
- work closely with our Control Room and Commercial teams to help keep operations running smoothly
- monitor operational information and trends, spotting potential issues and escalating them early
- collect, check and manage metering, nomination and storage data
- investigate missing or unusual data and work with others to resolve issues
- communicate with customers and internal teams
- work with systems including OATIS, BGIX, SCADA, the Ahuroa Nominations Tool and metering data systems
- support our response during critical contingency and emergency situations.
This role is part of an on-call out of hours roster.
Qualifications He aha tāu e kawe mai (What you will bring)
You don’t need to arrive knowing everything about gas transmission and storage. What matters is that you’re comfortable working with information and numbers, can think clearly, communicate well and know when something needs attention.
You could be a great fit if you bring:
- around three years’ work experience, ideally in the energy sector or in a role involving significant amounts of data
- good numerical, analytical and data-processing skills
- strong organisation and time-management skills
- the ability to interpret detailed information, processes or commercial agreements
- good communication skills and the confidence to build relationships with customers and stakeholders
- a proactive approach and sound judgement about when to act or escalate
- a collaborative mindset and willingness to work as part of a job-share or shift rotation arrangement.
