Position s Contributions To Work Group
As an Autonomy Systems Engineer on the Surface Loading Autonomy team, you will be an integral part of the CLIENT team developing the next generation of autonomous machines for the construction industry.
In this role you will be responsible for integrating autonomy solutions with the base machine. This includes helping to define the requirements and system architecture for bringing autonomous machine systems together, working with many different types of onboard electronics systems, including hands on work in both lab and on machine environments, and coordinating with other teams to implement, validate and demonstrate autonomous solutions on machine.
The successful candidate will be very detail oriented, help to develop and execute standard work and work well with and through others. Additionally, the incumbent will also need to be capable of making and communicating good decisions around the trade-offs between time, resources, and quality.
Note while knowledge of C++ and software development for autonomous systems is beneficial for this role, this is NOT an embedded software role.
Work Will Include Installation and testing of autonomy hardware on machine
Flashing of software on machine and validating proper functionality
On-machine commissioning of autonomy hardware
Supporting prototype and test machine builds and updates,
Live monitoring of CAN and Ethernet traffic on the machine and validating data
Troubleshooting connectivity and data issues as they arise, including debugging and correcting wiring, harness, sensor, positioning-system, and time synchronization issues.
Collaborating closely with machine product groups and working together, on-machine, to resolve issues
Typical Task Breakdown Apply new autonomous system solutions and technologies to machines working in the Construction industry, including Excavators, Wheel Loaders and Articulated Trucks.
Work closely with Machine Development teams (L6) to determine the best way to deliver on machine autonomous features.
Lead or support system integration, functional tests, and validation activities
Issue resolution through triage and troubleshooting
Collaborate with and coordinate activities between the various autonomy development teams, machine and machine system development teams and machine validation teams
Decomposition of Customer requirements into (L6) system level requirements
Ensure clear documentation and traceability of system architecture, design decisions, and success criteria
Serve as a subject matter expert for Surface Loading Machine Autonomous Solutions
Communicate system readiness and technical risk to stakeholders
Work Environment Working on or in close proximity to machines at the proving ground, with primary focus on the integration of autonomy on the machine. While some work will be on machine, other work will be performed in the office.
PPE gear, such as safety glasses, safety shoes, reflective vest, will be provided
Top 3 Skills Proven experience as a Systems Engineer supporting product development teams focusing on developing autonomous machines, including the integration of software and hardware to deliver autonomous solutions
Prior experience collaborating with systems integration and validation teams for engineering product development, including the validation of software and hardware to deliver autonomous solutions both in the lab and on machine
Knowledge and experience with Construction Equipment such as Articulated Dump Trucks, Hydraulic Excavators and Wheel Loaders
Why this Role?
As a System Engineer for Surface Loading (ex. Articulated Truck, Excavator and Wheel Loader Autonomy development, you will have the opportunity to be a part of CLIENT s team developing their next generation of autonomous machines for the Construction Industry)
Responsibilities Modify existing databases and database management systems or direct programmers and analysts to make changes.
Write and code logical and physical database descriptions and specify identifiers of database to management system or direct others in coding descriptions.
Work as part of a project team to coordinate database development and determine project scope and limitations.
Review project requests describing database user needs to estimate time and cost required to accomplish project.
