What they need

Systems Engineer

The Systems Engineer is responsible for the development, integration, and optimization of complex semiconductor equipment systems. This role collaborates across multiple engineering disciplines to ensure that individual technologies and subsystems function seamlessly as a fully integrated machine, delivering exceptional performance, reliability, and precision.

Key Responsibilities

System & Subsystem Engineering

  • Develop and evaluate system-level concepts, architectures, and technical solutions.
  • Define system and subsystem requirements, interfaces, and performance objectives.
  • Assess technical interactions and trade-offs across mechanical, electrical, controls, software, sensing, and process technologies.
  • Support the design, development, and enhancement of new and existing equipment platforms.

System Integration

  • Lead the integration of complex subsystems into the overall equipment architecture.
  • Define and manage interfaces between hardware, software, controls, sensing technologies, and process functions.
  • Identify integration risks and drive resolution of system-level challenges.
  • Ensure all subsystem designs collectively meet overall equipment requirements and performance targets.

Equipment Performance & Calibration

  • Develop methodologies to achieve and maintain equipment performance requirements.
  • Analyze factors impacting system accuracy, repeatability, stability, reliability, and overall machine performance.
  • Design and implement calibration, compensation, and control algorithms.
  • Investigate complex performance issues and develop effective system-level solutions.

Technology Development

  • Research and develop innovative technologies, algorithms, and engineering solutions that enhance equipment capabilities.
  • Evaluate alternative technical approaches, balancing engineering trade-offs and business objectives.
  • Translate advanced engineering concepts into practical, high-value solutions.
  • Consider performance, complexity, scalability, risk, maintainability, and implementation requirements when developing solutions.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with mechanical, electrical, controls, software, and systems engineering teams.
  • Translate system-level objectives into clear subsystem requirements and specifications.
  • Identify and resolve technical conflicts across functional areas.
  • Coordinate technical activities across multiple engineering groups to ensure project alignment and successful execution.
  • Maintain alignment between subsystem development efforts and overall system goals.

Engineering Processes & Documentation

  • Develop, review, and maintain system and subsystem specifications.
  • Support engineering best practices and continuous process improvement initiatives.
  • Promote clear, traceable, and testable engineering requirements.
  • Participate in technical reviews, design documentation, specification management, and engineering change processes.

Qualifications & Experience

Required Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in R&D, Product Engineering, or Systems Engineering.
  • Semiconductor equipment industry experience preferred.
  • Strong experience with mechanical and mathematical modeling tools, including:
  • MATLAB
  • Python
  • Mathcad
  • Microsoft Excel
  • Visual Basic
  • Hands-on experience with laboratory testing, troubleshooting, design of experiments (DOE), and instrumentation, such as:
  • Laser displacement measurement systems
  • Thermal sensors
  • Accelerometers
  • Other precision test equipment
  • Experience working with external vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Experience with CAD and solid modeling software is preferred.

Education

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in:
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Mechatronics Engineering
  • Or a related engineering discipline
  • Advanced degrees (Master's or Ph.D.) are preferred.

Additional Requirements

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with a systematic, results-driven approach.
  • Ability to adapt and thrive in a dynamic, changing work environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with experience working effectively across cross-functional teams.
  • Willingness to travel as business needs require.
