Systems Engineer

So who are we shopping for?

• If you remember the name of a client's partner, as well as remembering their network subnet, then you're on the way.
• If you can have a conversation with the customer, as well as deploying their new solution, then that's a step closer. If you're not a talker, you'll be asked to constantly do something that isn't your strength, as we are a relationship-based business - we sell through relationship selling and get new customers through referrals. If you're custard at Kiwi relationships, this position isn't for you.
• You like to be available and accessible to those in need while balancing your own life with work.  We look for a passion for service - doing stuff for other people is what fills your emotional tank (sorry to get all flowery there).
• You realise that this isn't just a 9-5 job - there are on-call and out of normal working hours commitments that are the nature of this industry but that doesn't put you off.
• We are a pretty relaxed jandals/t-shirt kind of crew, although we’d smack on some shoes to visit a customer. Our point is you can be your relaxed self here - it’s your natural style that fits our mould that we are shopping for.
• This is a ‘hit the ground running’ position - you will bring most of the skills and experience for this role into the business, we can then develop the rest.  This is why we are asking for least 7-10 years full-time experience in the IT service industry (bold to emphasise the point). If you don't tick this box and still apply, you'll likely not get a response from us.
• We're a time billing organisation. That means you need to track your time, all of it. If this is going to do your head in, then you'll be reminded we mentioned this very early in the recruitment process and that it's an expectation from the outset.
• Microsoft-land is your comfort zone, and being server-centric means you can do more than just spell RDS. You know virtualisation well, and you know your way around a switch CLI.  You really get into networking - we mean VLANs, routing, next gen security technologies (we're a Fortinet shop) and carrier settings. You're pretty comfortable in the cloud services-land as well.
• We have an exciting and expanding Pacific Island customer base. We currently have multiple deployment adventures to do in the next 12 months. We then have six international projects a year forecast beyond that.  If you excel in this position, there will be Island travel opportunities for these projects.
• I'm not caught up in being vaccinated or not, all are welcomed here and whether you are or aren't, won't make scrap of difference here.

While experience and outcomes mean more than certs, some industry quals to support your application will help (Microsoft, Fortinet, HPE, etc.).

A clean NZ driver's licence and a clean passport that’s accepted around the Pacific without visa complications is a must.  And on that note, if you don't already have the right to live and work in NZ, then we can’t consider your application.
