Systems Engineer Senior Principal - Infrastructure and Data Platforms (Remote)

For our client, we are seeking a Systems Engineer Senior Principal - Infrastructure and Data Platforms (Remote) to join the team of a leader in the Retail & Consumer Goods space.

This senior technology role will shape infrastructure and data platform strategy across a complex retail environment. The individual will lead technical alignment, evaluate build-versus-buy opportunities, and drive adoption of new platform capabilities that support enterprise-scale operations. This position also partners closely with technology leaders, vendors, and cross-functional teams to remove roadblocks, resolve critical issues, and strengthen execution across the portfolio.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $170,000 – $280,000 annually

Responsibilities

• Lead portfolio-level principal meetings for alignment and knowledge sharing
• Collaborate with leaders on technology build-versus-buy decisions
• Develop proofs of concept for new technologies and drive portfolio adoption
• Mentor and coach teams, providing performance feedback and development plans
• Identify and remove roadblocks in cross-functional projects
• Serve as a point of escalation for high-priority issues and outages
• Work with vendors to implement feature enhancements in software products

Qualifications

• 7-9 years of relevant work experience in systems engineering or a related field
• Proficiency in platform tools such as Kubernetes, RedHat OpenShift, and Pivotal Cloud Foundry
• Experience with core data solutions such as SQL Server and Oracle
• Strong programming skills or expertise in multiple infrastructure domains
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated leadership experience in technology strategy development
• Ability to quickly understand complex systems
