Systems Engineering Technologist

Job Title: Systems Engineering and Modeling & Simulation Technologist

Location: Colorado Spring, CO, Albuquerque, NM

Role Overview

The perfect candidate for this position thrives on intellectual curiosity and cross-domain challenges. This role is not about being “pigeonholed” into a single niche; instead, you will apply systems engineering principles to develop, analyze, recommend and optimize complex space systems architectures. You will join a world class analytical team providing data-driven insights that shape the development of next-generation space systems to include future position, navigation, and timing systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Architectural Optimization: Apply Systems Engineering (SE) principles throughout the product lifecycle, from initial “napkin sketch” concept to validated requirements.
• M&S Development: Design and execute models to simulate system behavior, ensuring performance aligns with Joint Warfighter needs and missions.
• Cross-Domain Analysis: Rapidly pivot between different technical domains, applying your analytical skills to various engineering challenges as they arise.
• Tool Integration: Utilize a variety of modeling and analysis tools, with the proactive drive to research and adopt new tools as project needs evolve.

Candidate Qualifications

Required Skills & Experience

• Education: Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Engineering, Computer Science, or Mathematics.
• Systems Engineering Foundation: Formal SE training with direct exposure to the systems development lifecycle.
• Technical Toolset: Proven experience with one or more industry-standard modeling and analysis tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, AFSIM, SysML, STK, or similar).
• Intellectual Curiosity: A demonstrated passion for learning and a “tinkerer” mindset when it comes to new technologies and methodologies.
• Versatility: An interest in developing expertise across multiple technical domains.

Preferred Attributes

• Military Background: Prior military experience is highly valued; we seek an intuitive understanding of the end-user’s environment and mission needs.
• Advanced SE Application: Deep understanding of systems principles and the ability to apply them to messy, real-world engineering problems especially within the space domain.
