Defence Systems Engineers

Location: Canberra, ACT
Security Clearance: Minimum NV1 required

CAPDA is seeking experienced Defence Systems Engineers to support the delivery of complex Defence capability projects within acquisition, sustainment and technical governance environments.

Working as part of multidisciplinary teams, you will contribute to systems engineering, engineering governance, technical assurance and capability delivery activities across a range of Defence programs. These roles offer the opportunity to work closely with Defence stakeholders, industry partners and technical specialists to support the successful delivery of capability outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct systems engineering activities across the capability lifecycle.
• Undertake requirements analysis, development and management.
• Support system integration, verification and validation (V&V), test and evaluation activities.
• Participate in systems engineering reviews, design reviews and technical assurance activities.
• Review engineering and technical deliverables, including plans, designs, reports and supporting documentation.
• Contribute to engineering governance, certification and compliance activities.
• Support capability acquisition, integration and sustainment projects.
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams comprising Systems Engineers, Electronics Engineers, Communications Engineers and other technical specialists.
• Engage with Defence, industry and project stakeholders to support successful project outcomes.
• Contribute to engineering planning, risk management and continuous improvement activities.

Essential Skills and Experience

• Degree qualification in Systems Engineering, Engineering, Science or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated Systems Engineering experience within a Defence environment.
• Experience undertaking requirements engineering and managing requirements throughout the system lifecycle.
• Experience supporting verification and validation, integration, test and evaluation activities.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and technical communication skills.
• Ability to analyse complex technical information and provide practical engineering solutions.
• Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Current Australian Government NV1 Security Clearance (minimum).

Desirable Skills and Experience

• Knowledge of the One Defence Capability System (ODCS).
• Understanding of Fundamental Inputs to Capability (FIC).
• Experience within CASG, Defence SPOs or Defence Prime organisations.
• Experience supporting capability acquisition, integration or sustainment projects.
• Experience reviewing technical and engineering deliverables.
• Understanding of configuration management, quality management and technical certification processes.
• Knowledge of Defence engineering governance frameworks and standards.
• Understanding of technical, logistical and operational considerations associated with Defence capability delivery.
