About KARL STORZ From the operating room to surgery centers—and everywhere in between—KARL STORZ North America is a global leader in medical technology and advanced visualization solutions. We design specialty innovations, smart instruments and devices, integrated ecosystems, and intelligent imaging—to build a more connected, software-enabled operating room.

As an independent, family-owned MedTech company, we ambitiously think in generations instead of quarters to improve patients’ lives around the world.

About The Role The System Integration Test Engineer II plays a critical role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of KARL STORZ products throughout the development lifecycle. In this position, you will collaborate closely with Software Engineers, Systems Engineers, Architects, and Project Managers to evaluate the integration of software, hardware, and firmware components within complex medical technology systems.

You will perform integration and verification testing, investigate product defects, develop automation solutions, and provide valuable feedback to development teams to improve system robustness and interoperability. This role offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies while contributing directly to the delivery of high-quality products that support healthcare professionals and patients worldwide.

This role follows a hybrid work schedule with 4 10 hour work days on-site with Friday’s off in our Goleta, CA office. The base salary for this role is $82,400 - $107,000 depending on experience.

What You'll Do

  • Perform hardware, software, and firmware integration testing throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Execute both white-box and black-box testing activities to evaluate system functionality, performance, and reliability.
  • Develop custom test software and automation tools to improve testing efficiency and expand test coverage.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, characterize, and document defects, providing detailed reports to engineering teams for resolution.
  • Analyze test results, verify existing functionality, and recommend corrective actions to improve product quality.
  • Support alpha and beta testing activities by preparing equipment, automation frameworks, and test methodologies.
  • Collaborate with Systems Engineers, Software Engineers, Architects, and Project Managers to resolve integration and performance issues.
  • Participate in regression testing efforts for new products, software releases, and ongoing product enhancements.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 2 to 5 years of engineering, software development, systems integration, or testing experience; advanced degree may substitute for some experience.
  • Experience testing integrated hardware, software, and firmware systems.
  • Knowledge of object-oriented programming languages such as C++, C#, Java, or similar technologies.
  • Familiarity with Windows and Linux operating systems.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Python programming and test automation development.
  • Knowledge of networking technologies, communication protocols, cybersecurity, and Internet-connected systems.
  • Experience working in a regulated industry such as medical devices, healthcare technology, aerospace, or other quality-driven environments.
  • Exposure to software quality metrics, performance analysis, and automated testing frameworks.

What Will Make You Successful

  • A passion for identifying issues before products reach customers and a commitment to delivering high-quality solutions.
  • Strong debugging and root-cause analysis skills across software, hardware, and integrated systems.
  • The ability to balance attention to detail with an understanding of overall system behavior and performance.
  • Effective collaboration skills and the ability to build strong relationships across engineering and project teams.
  • A continuous improvement mindset focused on enhancing test methods, automation capabilities, and product quality outcomes.

Why KARL STORZ? Join KARL STORZ and be part of a team creating medical innovations that truly make a difference. Beyond technology, you’ll be part of a culture that values talent as its greatest asset, empowering you to contribute to a mission that improves patient care worldwide.
