Tableau Server Administrator

Required Qualifications

• At least 4–5 years of experience in Tableau Server Administration or a similar BI/analytics platform administration role.
• Strong hands-on experience administering Tableau Server in an enterprise environment.
• Experience with Tableau Server user, group, role, and permission management.
• Knowledge of Tableau Server architecture, configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Experience managing Tableau workbooks, data sources, extracts, and scheduled refreshes.
• Experience with Tableau Server upgrades, patches, backup, and recovery.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Good understanding of databases, SQL, networking, authentication, and server infrastructure.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
• Ability to work effectively with technical teams, developers, analysts, and business users.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Tableau Server/Cloud migration or implementation projects.
• Knowledge of Tableau Server authentication and security, including Active Directory/LDAP or SSO.
• Experience with server monitoring and log analysis.
• Familiarity with Linux or Windows server administration.
• Knowledge of database technologies and SQL.
• Experience supporting high-availability or enterprise Tableau environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain the Tableau Server environment, including configuration, upgrades, patches, and routine maintenance.
• Manage Tableau users, groups, roles, permissions, and access controls.
• Monitor Tableau Server performance, availability, capacity, and overall system health.
• Troubleshoot and resolve Tableau Server issues, including connectivity, authentication, performance, and deployment-related concerns.
• Manage workbooks, data sources, projects, schedules, extracts, and refresh activities.
• Monitor and troubleshoot data extract and refresh failures.
• Support Tableau Server backup, recovery, and disaster recovery activities.
• Perform system upgrades, migrations, and configuration changes while minimizing service disruptions.
• Implement and maintain Tableau Server security and governance standards.
• Coordinate with infrastructure and database teams to resolve server, network, and database-related issues.
• Monitor server logs and system activities to identify potential issues and performance bottlenecks.
• Support users and development teams with Tableau Server-related technical concerns.
• Maintain technical documentation, procedures, configurations, and administrative guidelines.
• Assist in capacity planning and performance tuning as the Tableau environment grows.
