Job Description

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Tailor & Pattern Maker to join our team at Noirpoet.

The ideal candidate is passionate about garment making, with strong sewing and pattern-making skills and the ability to transform sketches, photos or design references into beautifully constructed, well-fitted garments.

This is a hands-on technical garment-making role, focusing on pattern construction, professional sewing, garment sampling and fittings.

You do not need to be a fashion designer. What matters most is your technical expertise, workmanship and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

1. Pattern Making

• Draft and develop garment patterns based on sketches, photographs or design references.
• Create and adjust patterns with accurate measurements, proportions and garment construction.
• Modify existing patterns to improve garment fit, shape and overall structure.

2. Professional Sewing

• Cut, assemble and sew complete garments, particularly modern dresses and traditional kebaya.
• Ensure neat, accurate stitching and high-quality garment construction.
• Handle sewing processes from fabric cutting through to final finishing.

3. Sampling & Fittings

• Produce initial garment samples based on provided patterns and design references.
• Conduct fittings and assess garment measurements, fit and overall shape.
• Make necessary adjustments to patterns and sewing details to achieve the desired fit and finishing.

4. Garment Construction & Details

• Work carefully on garment construction details, including darts, seams, collars, sleeves, zippers and linings.
• Ensure precision and consistency in garment measurements, sewing and finishing.
• Maintain high workmanship standards throughout the garment-making process.

5. Creative Collaboration

• Work closely with the founder to understand garment sketches, design ideas and visual references.
• Provide technical sewing and pattern-making input to bring design concepts into finished garments.
• Assist in refining garment fit, construction and finishing during the development process.

Job Requirements

• Strong practical experience in pattern making and professional garment sewing.
• Able to draft and adjust patterns independently based on sketches, photos or references.
• Skilled in sewing modern dresses and traditional kebaya.
• Good understanding of garment construction, measurements, proportions and fittings.
• Careful and detail-oriented, with a strong emphasis on sewing quality and finishing.
• Able to work independently and collaborate with the team during garment development.

Added Advantages

• Previous experience producing garment samples for a fashion brand or clothing label.
• Experience working with different fabric types, including delicate fabrics.
• Familiarity with industrial sewing machines and professional sewing equipment.
