About the role

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Tailor to join our team at Gama Retail Trading Sdn Bhd. This is a full-time position based in the West Region of Singapore. As a Tailor, you will be at the heart of our retail operations, providing expert garment alteration and customisation services to our valued customers. This role is essential to maintaining our reputation for quality craftsmanship and exceptional customer service, directly contributing to customer satisfaction and loyalty.

Key responsibilities

• Performing precise garment alterations including hemming, seam adjustments, and taking in or letting out seams
• Taking accurate measurements from customers and recording specific alteration requirements
• Operating industrial sewing machines and tailoring equipment with proficiency and safety
• Consulting with customers to understand their tailoring needs and providing professional recommendations
• Maintaining high standards of workmanship and attention to detail on all garments
• Meeting agreed deadlines for garment completion whilst ensuring quality is never compromised
• Keeping the tailoring workspace clean, organised and well-maintained
• Communicating clearly with customers regarding their garments and any adjustments made
• Following all health and safety protocols in the workplace

What we're looking for

• Proven experience as a Tailor or in a similar garment alteration role within the retail sector
• Advanced proficiency in hand sewing and machine sewing techniques
• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to work with precision on diverse garment types
• Strong knowledge of different fabrics, their properties and appropriate handling methods
• Ability to accurately take measurements and understand tailoring specifications
• Excellent customer service skills and ability to communicate professionally with clients
• Physical stamina to work standing for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks
• Reliability and commitment to meeting project deadlines
• Familiarity with steam pressing equipment and garment finishing techniques is desirable
• A valid work permit or right to work in Singapore
