Tailor/Seamstress- EXPERIENCE NEEDED

The Tailor Shop at Nick’s Menswear is the backbone of the sales process in stores. All garments purchased at Nick’s Menswear, in some way, shape, or form require an alteration, or at the bare minimum a steam pressing. The Tailor Shop's primary role is to alter the garments to give the polished look that the customer has visioned, and to make that vision come to life. LOOKING FOR FULL TIME

Tailoring Responsibilities:

• Provide high-quality workmanship to ensure the proper fit of all garments in accordance with Nick's Menswear completion timelines
• Press and repair of garments as needed
• Maintain clients altered and unaltered merchandise in a neat and organized manner
• Ensure that all equipment such as sewing machines, pressers, and steamers are well-maintained and kept in working order
• Communicate with management on all tailoring supplies and needs

Efficiently complete all Nick's Menswear individualized alterations, which include:

• Coat taper sleeves
• Coat sides
• Shortening/Lengthening jacket sleeves
• Coat shortening
• Move any and all buttons
• Pant waist in/out
• Pant taper leg
• Pant crotch in
• Pant hem cuff/plain
• Vest take in
• Vest add fabric (out/lengthen)
• Vest let out
• Shirt shorten
• Shirt taper sides
• Shirt make short sleeves
• Shirt shorten sleeve

Operations Responsibilities:

• Maintain orderly appearance of tailor shop (organized, swept, clean) and keep supplies stocked
• Be on time when scheduled and clock in/out correctly
• Communicate with management for all time off needs
• Work well with the entire store team, assist and communicate with other tailors to accomplish all tailoring daily tasks
• Comply with all company policies and procedures
• Participate in store meetings and training seminars as necessary
• Complete any other tasks as assigned by any manager

Do these attributes describe you?

• 1+ years tailoring experience, luxury product tailoring experience a plus
• Ability to read, count, and write to accurately complete all documentation
• Ability to adjust priorities and manage time wisely in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work a retail schedule as needed
• Ability to operate all equipment necessary to perform the job, including, but not limited to, sewing machines, pressing and ironing equipment, etc.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, organization and follow-through skills
• Ability to work varied hours/days, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods and to move and handle heavy garments and garment bags throughout the store, which entails lifting, and performing all functions as set forth above
• This position is based at our Scottsdale Fashion Square location and requires candidates to live in the Phoenix, Arizona area, as the role is performed in-store. Relocation is not offered.
