What they need

Incredible opportunity for an incredible business

Ko wai rāua – Who they are

You know New World, PAK’nSAVE and Four Square right?
That’s Foodstuffs North Island (FSNI) which is 100% kiwi owned. There are 300+ stores and over 24,000 Foodies across Te Ika-a-Maui, their North Island Co-op have the privilege of helping New Zealanders get more out of life.  Locally owned, Foodstuffs reflect the communities they serve, and they celebrate their people every day for being uniquely them.

The Co-op is built on a legacy of ownership - and Foodstuffs are committed to ensuring that legacy thrives for generations to come. Ownership isn’t just a business model; it’s the heartbeat of Foodies. The way they identify, attract, and develop their future Owner Operators is one of the most powerful things they do.

This role goes well beyond traditional recruitment. You'll work closely with Owner Operators and store leaders to identify future owners, whether they're already within the Co-op or joining from outside the business.

Success in this role comes from your ability to build relationships, ask the right questions, and assess not only what someone has achieved, but whether they have the capability, leadership qualities, commercial mindset and readiness to take the next step towards store ownership.

You'll be encouraged to get out into the business, spend time in stores, meet Owner Operators across the network and develop a deep understanding of what great ownership looks like. This role won’t just be deskbound, you will be on the road, building relationships, having meaningful conversations and identifying the talent that will shape the future of the Co-op.

Te Tūranga – About the role

As a Talent Selection Partner, you’ll play a key role in building and maintaining a strong pipeline of aspiring Owner Operators.  This is a role with real impact - helping us secure the leadership capability that keeps this Co-op so strong.

One day you might be sitting with an Owner Operator discussing a Store Manager who has spent 20 years in the business and has been nominated as a potential future owner. The next, you could be proactively mapping other potential leaders who have the capability to join the ownership pathway.

You’ll:

  • Build the pipeline: Attract and identify aspiring Owner Operators
  • Guide the journey: Coach candidates through assessment centres and interviews
  • Coordinate selection: Lead end-to-end selection processes
  • Recruit retail leaders: Map and headhunt talent for leadership roles across our store network
  • Partner for success: Work closely with Owner Operators, Heads of Banner, and Leadership Programme Managers to align future ownership needs

He kōrero mōu - About you

  • A background in talent development or possibly from L&D or HR – either way you will know how to seek out talent and guide people on their journey

  • Experience coordinating assessment centres and using selection tools
