R&D Tax Associate | ATT & CTA Study Support

An exciting opportunity to join a specialist R&D Tax team , working with a broad range of innovative businesses and developing a long-term career within tax.

As an R&D Tax Associate , you’ll support the preparation and delivery of R&D tax claims, working closely with clients to understand their businesses, projects and qualifying expenditure. You’ll gain exposure to both the technical and client-facing sides of R&D tax, with support from experienced members of the team.

Alongside the role, you’ll receive support towards your ATT qualification , with the opportunity to progress onto CTA as your career develops.

Key responsibilities

• Support the preparation and delivery of a varied portfolio of R&D tax claims.
• Work with clients to gather information around their R&D projects, activities and qualifying expenditure.
• Participate in client meetings and discussions to understand their businesses and identify relevant R&D activity.
• Prepare claim calculations, supporting analysis and documentation for review.
• Develop your understanding of HMRC guidance and UK R&D tax legislation .
• Identify gaps, risks or technical issues within claims and raise these with senior members of the team.
• Undertake research into tax legislation and technical R&D matters where required.
• Support Managers and senior colleagues on more complex claims and client projects.
• Build strong working relationships with clients through clear, professional and responsive communication.

Qualifications & experience

Ideally, you’ll have:

• An interest in developing a career within R&D Tax .
• A commitment to studying towards ATT , with ambitions to progress onto CTA .
• Strong numerical and analytical skills.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Previous experience within tax, accounting, finance or a commercial environment would be beneficial.
• Previous experience dealing with clients or stakeholders would also be advantageous.
