Tax Associate

About Us
NYB CPA P.C. is a growing firm that recently split its accounting and tax departments. We’re hiring a seasoned preparer to be the main operator of our tax department. You’ll have principal review support and 1–2 interns reporting to you.

The Department

• 150–200 individual clients, ranging from simple to complex
• About 400 business returns
• A real estate-heavy client base, with new business coming in
• A fully digital, streamlined workflow, using technology and AI to cut repetitive work

What You’ll Own

• Preparing 1040, 1065, 1120S and 1120 returns
• Running the season: deadlines, extensions, 1099 filing, estimates and notices
• Assigning and reviewing intern work
• Client communication

Requirements

• 3–5+ years of tax prep at a small CPA firm
• Strong command of 1040, 1065, 1120S and 1120 returns
• Familiarity with New York-specific rules (NYS/NYC)
• Confident handling multi-state returns
• Knows QuickBooks Online and can pull what’s needed for business returns
• Flags issues early and pushes returns, and the season, to completion
• Leadership skills, with experience guiding junior staff
• CPA or EA preferred

Compensation

• Base: $85,000 – $100,000, based on experience
• Bonus: a percentage of fees on the tax clients you work on
• Profit share: up to 50% on new clients you bring in
• Flexible schedule: no tax-season hours

Pay: $75,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
