Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise corporate income tax compliance across the Corporation’s international operations, including tax returns, payments, tax attributes, and related filings.
  • Oversee quarterly and annual tax accounting under IAS 12, including current and deferred tax calculations, effective tax rate analysis, and financial statement disclosures.
  • Coordinate international tax matters, including withholding taxes, cross-border financing, cash repatriation, permanent establishment considerations, and intercompany transactions.
  • Manage and supervise transfer pricing policies, documentation, and intercompany arrangements.
  • Oversee or support mining-specific taxes, royalties, indirect taxes, and other fiscal obligations applicable to the Corporation’s operations and projects.
  • Monitor developments in Canadian and international tax legislation and assess their impact on the Company.
  • Provide tax advice on acquisitions, financings, reorganizations, and project development activities.
  • Manage tax audits, assessments, and inquiries from tax authorities, coordinating with external advisors and legal counsel as required.
  • Maintain and enhance the Corporation’s tax governance framework, processes, and internal controls, including documentation of significant tax positions and risks.
  • Support senior management and, where required, the Audit Committee with respect to significant tax matters.

Qualifications

  • CPA designation, In-Depth Tax Program (IDTP), graduate degree in taxation, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Approximately 5–8+ years of relevant tax experience in public accounting, industry, or a combination of both.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian corporate tax and international tax principles.
  • Experience working with multinational organizations and cross-border tax matters.
  • Strong understanding of IFRS and IAS 12.
  • Experience with transfer pricing and international tax compliance.
  • Mining, natural resources, or other capital-intensive industry experience is preferred.
  • Exposure to mining taxes, mergers and acquisitions, corporate reorganizations, or project development would be an asset.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong analytical, financial, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple jurisdictions, deadlines, and competing priorities.
  • Practical and business-oriented approach to complex tax matters.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain tax matters clearly to non-tax professionals.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively across corporate, regional, and operational teams in an international environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal English and French; additional languages relevant to the Corporation’s jurisdictions are an asset.

GMIN welcomes all applications and is committed to assessing them without discriminatory bias. We offer equal employment opportunities to all.

Knowledge of a language other than French is required for this position as GMIN’s sites are international and the incumbent will be required to communicate with them on a regular basis.
