Pay Range: $25.00–$36.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.

Seasonal | In-Office | Potential for Permanent Placement

Empower Wealth & Tax is seeking an experienced Seasonal Tax Preparer to join our in-house tax team for the upcoming tax season. This position is ideal for a tax professional who can independently prepare individual income tax returns, work efficiently during a busy filing season, and provide accurate, professional service to our clients.

This is a seasonal position with the potential for permanent, year-round placement for the right candidate based on performance, experience, and the continued needs of our growing tax department.

Training will take place from our Cedar Park office.

This is an in-office position and is not available for remote work.

Responsibilities

• Prepare federal and state individual income tax returns
• Prepare returns involving retirement income, Social Security, IRA and pension distributions, investment income, capital gains and losses, itemized deductions, and other individual tax matters
• Prepare multi-state individual returns when applicable
• Review client tax documents for completeness and identify missing or inconsistent information
• Communicate with clients regarding documents, questions, and additional information needed to complete their returns
• Prepare more complex individual returns based on experience
• Assist with trust, estate, business, partnership, and corporate returns based on experience
• Work with CPAs and other tax preparers to research and resolve tax preparation questions
• Assist with extensions and other tax-season filing needs
• Maintain accurate documentation and follow established preparation and review procedures
• Manage multiple returns and deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
• Maintain strict confidentiality of client financial and tax information

Qualifications

• Prior professional tax preparation experience required
• Strong experience preparing Form 1040 individual income tax returns
• Experience preparing federal and state income tax returns
• Knowledge of common retirement-related tax matters
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to manage multiple returns and deadlines during tax season
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Comfortable communicating directly with clients
• Ability to work collaboratively with CPAs, tax preparers, advisors, and administrative staff
• Experience with complex and multi-state individual returns preferred
• Experience preparing trust, estate, business, partnership, or corporate returns is a plus
• EA, CPA, or other tax credentials are a plus but not required
