About the role

Sancha is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Tea Barista to join our team in Kuala Lumpur. This is a full-time position where you will be at the heart of our beverage service, crafting exceptional tea experiences for our guests. As a Tea Barista, you will play a crucial role in delivering outstanding customer service and maintaining the high standards Sancha is known for. Your expertise in tea preparation and presentation will directly contribute to our reputation as a premier destination for quality tea beverages.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and serve a diverse range of tea beverages with precision and care, including specialty teas, herbal infusions, and signature Sancha blends
• Demonstrate extensive knowledge of different tea varieties, origins, flavour profiles and brewing techniques to provide personalised recommendations to customers
• Maintain exceptional standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the tea preparation area, including proper sanitisation of equipment and workstations
• Operate and maintain tea-making equipment, including espresso machines, water filtration systems, grinders and other beverage preparation tools
• Take customer orders accurately, manage payment processing and maintain a friendly, welcoming demeanour with all guests
• Engage with customers to understand their preferences and tailor beverage recommendations accordingly
• Work collaboratively with team members during peak service periods to ensure efficient operations and consistent service quality
• Monitor inventory levels of tea, syrups, milk and other beverage components, reporting shortages to management
• Maintain knowledge of allergens and dietary requirements to safely cater to all customers
• Contribute to a positive team environment and support training of new staff members

What we're looking for

• Previous experience working as a barista, tea specialist or in a similar beverage service role within the hospitality industry
• Comprehensive knowledge of tea varieties, origins, processing methods and brewing techniques
• Strong understanding of customer service excellence and the ability to engage authentically with diverse clientele
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain tea characteristics and make knowledgeable recommendations
• Physical capability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks with precision
• Attention to detail in beverage preparation and presentation to ensure consistency and quality
• Ability to work efficiently during busy service periods whilst maintaining composure and accuracy
• Flexibility to work varied shifts, including mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekends as required
• A passion for tea and genuine enthusiasm for sharing this knowledge with customers
• Certification in food hygiene and safety is preferred
• Experience with point-of-sale systems is desirable
