Middle & High School Teacher Assistant / Classroom Educator

Join Varyvoda Christian Academy's educational team as a Middle & High School Teacher Assistant, where your experience, organization, and commitment to Christian education will directly contribute to the academic and personal development of students. In this role, you will provide on-site classroom support while working closely with a remote lead teacher to ensure students receive consistent instruction, supervision, academic guidance, and individualized support. The ideal candidate will have experience working with middle and high school students, classroom management, lesson-plan implementation, grade-book maintenance, and student accountability, with experience using the ABECCA curriculum strongly preferred.

Duties

• Support the remote lead teacher in implementing daily lesson plans and curriculum for middle and high school students.
• Serve as the primary on-site classroom support, ensuring students remain engaged, focused, and on task during instructional periods.
• Implement instructional activities using the ABECCA curriculum and materials provided by the lead teacher.
• Assist students with assignments, coursework, projects, assessments, and other classroom activities.
• Maintain accurate grade books, attendance records, assignment records, and other required student documentation.
• Monitor student academic progress and communicate concerns or areas requiring additional support to the remote lead teacher.
• Provide consistent and effective classroom management, establishing clear expectations for behavior, participation, attendance, and academic responsibility.
• Reinforce positive behavior and maintain a safe, respectful, structured, and Christ-centered classroom environment.
• Coordinate with the remote lead teacher regarding daily instructional objectives, student progress, classroom concerns, and needed interventions.
• Help students navigate technology and online instructional components associated with the remote learning model.
• Prepare classroom materials, organize assignments, administer assessments, and assist with maintaining an orderly learning environment.
• Provide appropriate academic support to students who may need additional explanation, reinforcement, or assistance completing coursework.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information and academic records.
• Model the values of Christian faith, integrity, respect, responsibility, service, leadership, and compassion.
• Participate in staff meetings, professional development, school activities, and other duties necessary to support the successful operation of the academy.

Experience

• Previous experience working with middle school and/or high school students is strongly preferred.
• Experience in a Christian private-school environment is preferred.
• Experience with the ABECCA curriculum is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated experience with classroom management and student supervision.
• Experience following and implementing established lesson plans and curriculum.
• Experience maintaining grade books, attendance, assignments, and student records.
• Experience working collaboratively with a lead teacher, instructional team, or remote educator.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple students and assignments effectively.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfortable using computers, educational technology, video-conferencing platforms, and digital learning tools.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining consistent communication with the remote lead teacher.
