Responsibilities

• Assist lead teachers in implementing curriculum plans across subjects such as literacy, math, and social skills, ensuring alignment with educational standards like the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA)
• Support students with disabilities, including those with autism and developmental disabilities, by providing tailored instructional assistance and behavior management strategies
• Help facilitate communication using tools like American Sign Language (ASL) and other augmentative communication methods for students with communication needs
• Manage classroom routines, including lesson setup, transitions, and maintaining a positive learning environment through effective behavior management techniques
• Support the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), ensuring accommodations are met for students with special education needs
• Assist in lesson planning and curriculum development to foster literacy education, numeracy skills, and social-emotional learning for diverse learners
• Provide nurturing childcare for toddlers and preschool-aged children in Montessori or preschool settings, including early childhood development activities and toddler care routines

Experience

• Prior classroom experience working with children in early childhood or preschool settings is highly preferred
• Experience supporting students with disabilities or special education needs is essential; familiarity with IEP processes is a plus
• Knowledge of Deaf education and working with individuals who use American Sign Language (ASL) enhances your ability to serve diverse student populations
• Demonstrated skills in classroom management, behavior support, and lesson planning are vital for success in this role
• Private school experience or background in Montessori or preschool environments will be considered an asset
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, specialists, families, and students are crucial for fostering an inclusive classroom atmosphere
