Make a real difference to a child’s education
Are you a passionate, nurturing and inspirational teacher who believes that every child deserves the opportunity to learn, succeed and feel valued?
We are looking for an exceptional Part-Time Teacher to join our dedicated team, supporting pupils with medical needs and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) difficulties.
This is a rewarding opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about inclusive education and wants to make a genuine difference to children and young people whose education may have been disrupted by illness, medical treatment, anxiety, emotional difficulties or other barriers to learning.
You will be joining a supportive and caring environment where relationships, wellbeing and individual progress are at the heart of everything we do.
About the role
As a specialist teacher, you will provide high-quality, personalised teaching to pupils with a range of medical and SEMH needs.
You will:
● Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to individual pupils’ needs, interests and abilities.
● Support pupils to develop confidence, resilience, independence and a love of learning.
● Build positive, trusting relationships with children and young people.
● Adapt teaching to accommodate medical conditions, fatigue, anxiety, emotional regulation difficulties and individual learning needs.
● Monitor progress, assess learning and contribute to personalised education plans.
● Work closely with parents, carers, colleagues and external professionals to ensure a holistic approach to education.
● Support pupils to re-engage with learning and, where appropriate, prepare for reintegration into school or their next educational pathway.
● Promote a calm, safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.
● Follow safeguarding, medical needs, health and safety and behaviour support procedures.
The successful candidate will be someone who understands that progress is not always measured in grades. Sometimes it is a pupil entering the classroom, completing a task, building trust or believing in themselves again.
About you
We are looking for a teacher who is:
● Passionate about improving outcomes for children with additional needs.
● Patient, empathetic, resilient and emotionally intelligent.
● Skilled at adapting teaching to meet individual needs.
● Confident in building positive relationships with pupils who may have experienced disrupted education.
● Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
● Able to work collaboratively with families and professionals.
● Reflective, organised and committed to continuous professional development.
Essential
● Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), or an appropriate recognised teaching qualification where applicable.
● Experience of teaching children or young people.
● Understanding of SEND and inclusive education.
● Understanding of, or experience supporting, pupils with medical needs and/or SEMH difficulties.
● Good knowledge of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities.
● Ability to plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons.
● Excellent communication and organisational skills.
● Commitment to the wellbeing, safety and progress of every pupil.
Desirable
● Experience in specialist education, alternative provision, hospital education or home tuition.
● Experience supporting children with chronic illness, anxiety, emotionally based school avoidance or mental health difficulties.
● Knowledge of trauma-informed and attachment-aware approaches.
● Experience working with EHCPs, individual healthcare plans or multi-agency teams.
● Training in first aid, medical needs or positive behaviour support.
What we can offer
● A rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference to pupils’ lives.
● A supportive and caring team.
● A nurturing and inclusive working environment.
● Opportunities for professional development and specialist training.
● The opportunity to develop your experience in medical needs and SEMH education.
● A part-time working arrangement to support a positive work-life balance.
● The chance to contribute to a culture where every child is valued and supported.
