Teacher-Vision Therapist

Unique opportunity to be trained as a Vision Therapist.

• Vision therapy, also known as vision training, is used to improve vision skills such as eye movement control and eye coordination. Under the professional supervision of an Optometrist, vision therapy involves a series of activities that are done by a patient which have been designed to improve decreased visual motor and/or perceptual skills. Guided by a trained vision therapist, the specifically chosen activities are learned and practiced by the patient in an in-office setting and the skills are reinforced at a home setting with consistent repetition.

• Position can be designed for FT or PT hours. For the individual that gains more Vision Therapy experience, and has a flare for sales and marketing, this position can be lead to a Vision Therapy Coordinating position of approx 35-37hr/week.

Training will take place in the office, guided by a current vision therapist. Then, when commitment is demonstrated, additional training could be received from training seminars around country. Ideal candidate will be comfortable working with patients from toddler age to adults. Candidate must have wonderful phone skills, have experience with creating and following lesson plans, comfortable with “parent-teacher” conference concept, have the ability to motivate and hold accountable both parents of patient, and patient (child/teen/or adult), interest in both reading and sport skills. Leadership and Management skills are important. Speaking and marketing skills a plus in order to answer phone questions and promote these specialty services. * 4yr Bachelor Degree required
