Secondary Subject Specialist Teacher – Day-to-Day & Long-Term Supply

Standby Education is looking to recruit enthusiastic and reliable Secondary Subject Specialist Teachers to work with secondary schools on both day-to-day supply and long-term placements.

Whether you are looking for the flexibility of daily supply, a longer-term role, or a mixture of both, we would love to hear from you.

The Role

We are recruiting qualified and experienced Secondary Teachers across a range of subject specialisms, including:

• English
• Mathematics
• Science – Biology, Chemistry and Physics
• Humanities – History, Geography and RE
• Modern Foreign Languages
• PE
• Computer Science / ICT
• Design & Technology
• Art & Design
• Music
• Business Studies
• Other secondary curriculum subjects

Assignments can range from single-day cover and short-term supply through to long-term placements, giving you the flexibility to choose work that suits your availability and career goals.

Responsibilities

As a Secondary Subject Specialist Teacher, you will be expected to:

• Deliver engaging and effective lessons within your subject specialism
• Follow existing lesson plans and schemes of work where provided
• Manage classroom behaviour effectively and maintain a positive learning environment
• Support pupils of varying abilities and learning needs
• Mark work and provide feedback where required for longer-term placements
• Follow school safeguarding, behaviour and educational policies
• Work professionally and collaboratively with teaching and support staff

What We Are Looking For

We would like to hear from candidates who:

• Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an appropriate teaching qualification
• Have experience teaching within a secondary school environment
• Have strong subject knowledge within their specialist area
• Have excellent classroom and behaviour management skills
• Are adaptable, dependable and confident working in different school environments
• Are committed to safeguarding and supporting the education and wellbeing of young people

ECTs and experienced teachers are both encouraged to apply.
