Summary

At Burscough Village, we want every child to feel that they belong, can succeed and can become increasingly independent.

Due to increasing levels of SEND and the needs identified within pupils’ Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), we are looking to appoint two skilled, caring and committed Teaching Assistants with particular strengths in cognition and learning: one to work in Year 6 and one to work in Year 4.

This is an important role within our inclusive school. You will work alongside teachers and our SEND team to turn the provision identified within Section F of EHCPs into meaningful, consistent support that helps children access learning and make progress.

You will: •
provide targeted support for pupils with cognition and learning needs; •
deliver structured interventions and adapt support in response to pupils’ progress; •
use strategies such as modelling, scaffolding, explicit instruction, repetition and overlearning; •
support the effective delivery and review of provision identified within EHCPs; •
monitor progress and contribute clear evidence towards individual targets and reviews; •
support children’s communication, emotional regulation, wellbeing and positive behaviour; •
work closely with teachers, the SEND team, families and other professionals; •
encourage children to develop confidence and independence, rather than becoming reliant on adult support; and •
contribute fully to the wider life of Burscough Village.

Why Burscough Village?

Our values of Independence, Resilience, Team Work, Respect and Aspire are at the heart of school life.

We offer a welcoming and supportive team, opportunities for professional development and specialist training, and the chance to play an important part in our continuing work to strengthen inclusive provision across our school and nursery.

Above all, we are looking for someone who will see the child before the need, build strong relationships and help our children believe in what they can achieve.

Please note that in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education 2026, an online search will be carried out as part of our due diligence on shortlisted candidates.

Please note CVs are not accepted, to apply for this vacancy you need to complete the application form attached.
