What they need
At Oakwood House, our teaching assistants are an integral part of the team. Students at Oakwood House work towards GCSE outcomes, and therefore the teaching assistant role encompasses both the pastoral support to decrease barriers to learning and the academic support that students require in lessons in order to achieve the outcomes that are right for them.
Applicants should be kind but also energetic. As a pupil centred role, teaching assistants need to be adaptable and able to work with individuals or small groups of students to reinforce learning concepts. Teaching assistants work both inside and outside of the classroom to provide support for students, including having opportunities to develop activities to engage and enthuse.
