TEACHING ASSISTANT – ALTERNATIVE PROVISION

Help young people find their way forward.

Dale Futures CIC | Rochdale
Permanent | Full-Time | Term Time Only – 38 weeks
32.5 hours per week | Monday–Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm
£16,060 actual salary per annum
£22,000 FTE | Equivalent to Support Staff Grade 4

Every Young Person. Every Chance.

At Dale Futures, we work with young people who have often found mainstream education difficult.

Our pupils may experience SEND, SEMH needs, anxiety, disrupted education, challenging behaviour, attendance difficulties or repeated setbacks in mainstream education.

We believe every young person deserves the opportunity to feel:

SAFE. SECURE. SUCCESSFUL.

We are looking for a Teaching Assistant who shares that belief.

This isn't a role where you'll simply sit at the back of a classroom.

It's a hands-on, relational and rewarding role where you will help young people regulate, re-engage, learn and experience success.

THE ROLE

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside our teachers and wider team to provide consistent support across learning, behaviour, wellbeing and inclusion.

You'll help create an environment where young people know what is expected of them, feel supported when things become difficult, and are encouraged to keep moving forward.

You will: Support Learning

  • Support teachers with lessons, activities and interventions
  • Work with individuals and small groups
  • Help pupils overcome barriers to learning
  • Prepare resources and adapt activities where required
  • Encourage pupils to participate and make progress

Support Behaviour & Engagement

  • Build positive, professional relationships with pupils
  • Maintain clear and consistent boundaries
  • Support pupils when they become dysregulated or disengaged
  • Use agreed strategies to encourage positive behaviour
  • Help create calm, predictable routines

Put Safeguarding First

  • Maintain a strong safeguarding focus at all times
  • Follow Dale Futures safeguarding procedures
  • Recognise and report concerns appropriately
  • Contribute to a safe environment for every young person

Support SEND & Inclusion

  • Support pupils with additional needs and EHCP outcomes
  • Help remove barriers to accessing education
  • Provide individualised support under the direction of teaching staff
  • Assist with personal care where required and appropriate

Be Part of the Team

  • Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff and leaders
  • Share observations about pupil progress, behaviour and wellbeing
  • Contribute to reviews and interventions
  • Help maintain a consistent and professional approach across the provision

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

You don't need to have followed a traditional route into education.

We are looking for someone who is calm, reliable, resilient and genuinely interested in helping young people succeed.

You will ideally have:

  • Experience working with children or young people in education, youth work, care or a similar setting
  • A calm and consistent approach to challenging behaviour
  • The ability to build positive relationships while maintaining professional boundaries
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A commitment to safeguarding and inclusion
  • The resilience to remain calm when situations become challenging
  • A willingness to learn and develop your practice

Most importantly, you will:See the young person behind the behaviour.

We don't expect every day to be easy.

We do expect our staff to remain consistent, professional, compassionate and ambitious for every pupil.

WHY DALE FUTURES?

At Dale Futures, you will join a growing alternative provision with a clear purpose:

Every Young Person. Every Chance.

We provide structured, personalised support for young people who need a different approach to education.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Make a genuine difference to young people's lives
  • Work within a supportive and structured team
  • Receive ongoing training and professional development
  • Develop your experience across SEND, SEMH, behaviour and alternative provision
  • Help young people rebuild confidence and engagement with education
  • Be part of a provision that believes in high expectations with high support

A ROLE WITH REAL IMPACT

Sometimes success is a qualification.

Sometimes it's a young person walking through the door when they previously wouldn't.

Sometimes it's staying in the classroom for the whole lesson.

Sometimes it's managing something difficult without giving up.

At Dale Futures, those moments matter.

If you want a role where your work can have a meaningful impact every single day, we'd like to hear from you.
