Teaching Assistant

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join the primary education team at Canadian International School PTE LTD. This is a full-time position based in the Jurong East West Region. The Teaching Assistant will provide essential support to classroom teachers, helping to create a positive and inclusive learning environment for primary school students. This role is fundamental to enhancing the educational experience and ensuring that students receive the individualised attention they need to thrive academically and personally.

Key responsibilities

• Assist classroom teachers in planning, preparing and delivering lessons to primary school students
• Supervise students during independent learning activities, group work and transitions between lessons
• Provide one-to-one or small group support to students who require additional academic or behavioural assistance
• Help maintain a well-organised, safe and stimulating classroom environment
• Prepare educational materials, resources and displays to support classroom learning objectives
• Monitor and record student progress and behaviour, feeding back to classroom teachers
• Assist with the implementation of behaviour management strategies and support positive pupil conduct
• Support students with personal care needs and ensure their wellbeing throughout the school day
• Contribute to extracurricular activities, excursions and school events as required
• Communicate effectively with parents, teachers and school leadership to support student development

What we're looking for

• A minimum qualification equivalent to GCE 'O' Levels or higher, or recognised equivalent qualification
• Proven experience working with primary school-aged children in an educational or care setting
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with students, staff and families
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
• Patience, empathy and a genuine passion for supporting children's learning and development
• The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and follow the direction of classroom teachers
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing and safety of all students
• Flexibility and a willingness to adapt to the changing needs of the classroom
• Experience with students from diverse cultural backgrounds is advantageous
• A relevant qualification in education, childcare or special education support is preferred
