What they need
Make a Difference Every Day. Become the Supportive Teaching Assistant a Child Can Count On.
Teaching Assistant with SEN Support | Chester | Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm
Are you the kind of person who sees potential in every child, celebrates the little victories and never gives up when learning gets difficult?
Do you have the patience, warmth and determination to help children feel safe, included and confident in the classroom?
If that sounds like you, we would love to meet you.
A School Where You Can Make a Real Difference
At Vara Education, we believe great education starts with great people.
We work with over 35 primary schools across Cheshire, Wirral and North Wales, with a team of more than 75 dedicated staff supporting thousands of children every week.
We are not here to make you feel like another name on a rota. We want you to feel part of a team that knows you, values your contribution and supports you to do your best work.
We are now looking for a caring and committed Teaching Assistant with SEN support experience to join a primary school in Chester.
This is a Monday to Friday role, from 8:30am to 3:30pm, giving you the opportunity to build meaningful relationships, provide consistent support and become a valued part of a school community.
What Your Week Will Look Like
Every day brings an opportunity to make a difference.
You will help children access learning, build confidence and feel that they belong in the classroom. Some children may need extra encouragement with their work, while others may benefit from additional structure, reassurance or individualised support.
Your role will include:
- Supporting pupils with special educational needs to engage with classroom activities and reach their individual potential.
- Working closely with the class teacher to adapt learning activities and provide appropriate support.
- Helping children develop their communication, independence, social skills and confidence.
- Providing patient, consistent support for children who may find certain situations or learning environments challenging.
- Encouraging positive behaviour through clear boundaries, praise and a calm, understanding approach.
- Helping create an inclusive classroom where every child feels safe, respected and able to succeed.
- Building positive relationships with pupils, teachers and other members of the school team.
- Following safeguarding procedures and ensuring children’s safety and wellbeing remain your priority.
The most rewarding moments will not always be the biggest ones. Sometimes, success is a child completing a task independently, joining in with their classmates or simply feeling confident enough to try again.
Those are the moments that make this job matter.
What You Get with Vara Education
We believe you deserve to feel supported just as much as the children you support.
When you join Vara, you can expect:
- Consistent working hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm.
- A welcoming school environment: The opportunity to become part of a primary school team and build positive working relationships.
- A team that knows you: Friendly, approachable support from people who care about how you are getting on.
- Ongoing guidance: Someone to speak to when you need advice, reassurance or support.
- Opportunities to develop: Access to relevant training and professional development opportunities.
- Recognition that matters: A team that values your patience, commitment and contribution.
- Work with purpose: The chance to help children overcome barriers, develop independence and enjoy learning.
We want you to look back six months from now and feel more confident, more experienced and proud of the difference you have made.
Who We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone who genuinely cares about helping children succeed.
You might be an experienced Teaching Assistant, an SEN specialist or someone with a strong background in supporting children who need additional help in education.
What matters most is your approach.
You will ideally be someone who:
- Has experience supporting children with special educational needs in a primary school or similar setting.
- Is patient, nurturing and understanding, particularly when a child finds learning or communication challenging.
- Can adapt their approach to meet different learning needs and individual circumstances.
- Builds trust through consistency, encouragement and positive relationships.
- Remains calm, professional and confident when managing challenging situations.
- Understands the importance of safeguarding, confidentiality and professional boundaries.
- Works well as part of a team and communicates effectively with teachers and colleagues.
- Is reliable, proactive and committed to helping every child achieve their potential.
Relevant SEN experience is important, and experience supporting children with autism, ADHD, communication needs or additional learning needs would be particularly valuable.
You do not need to have all the answers. You do need to bring the right attitude, a willingness to learn and a genuine commitment to children’s wellbeing.
