Position Overview : HME Solutions is seeking a highly experienced Lead Android Developer with 10+ years of experience , strong expertise in Android application development, and practical knowledge of Fleet Management Systems (FMS), preferably within the mining industry.

The selected candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining Android-based applications used in mining fleet operations, equipment monitoring, dispatch management, and real-time operational tracking.

The role requires close collaboration with software engineers, hardware teams, product managers, and mine-site operations teams to ensure successful integration and deployment of Android applications.

The candidate must be willing and able to travel extensively across the world , including working at international customer locations and remote mining sites for implementation, testing, troubleshooting, commissioning, and operational support.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

A. Android Application Development

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, reliable, high-performance Android applications.
• Develop applications using Kotlin and Java.
• Build Android applications for mining fleet management, equipment monitoring, and dispatch operations.
• Develop and maintain applications for industrial Android tablets and in-cab devices.
• Implement modern Android architecture using MVVM, Clean Architecture, and Jetpack components.
• Integrate REST APIs, WebSockets, and real-time data communication services.
• Ensure applications function reliably in remote locations with limited or unstable internet connectivity.
• Implement offline data storage, synchronization, and recovery mechanisms.
• Perform code reviews, debugging, performance optimization, and application maintenance.

B. Fleet Management Systems (FMS)

• Develop and enhance Android applications integrated with Fleet Management Systems.
• Understand mining fleet operations involving haul trucks, excavators, drills, dozers, and graders.
• Support real-time equipment tracking, dispatching, productivity monitoring, and operational reporting.
• Integrate Android applications with GPS/GNSS, telemetry systems, and vehicle data interfaces.
• Develop user interfaces for equipment operators, dispatchers, and mine-site supervisors.
• Support real-time equipment status monitoring, alerts, and operational workflows.
• Collaborate with FMS product teams to understand operational requirements and implement application improvements.
• Ensure Android applications to integrate effectively with backend fleet management platforms

C. Mining Technology & Hardware Integration

• Integrate Android applications with onboard mining equipment technology.
• Work with GNSS/GPS receivers, telemetry devices, CAN bus interfaces, and communication systems, as applicable.
• Support communication between Android tablets and external hardware through Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, USB, or other supported interfaces.
• Coordinate with hardware engineers and OEM specialists to resolve equipment integration issues.
• Perform device compatibility testing and validate application performance on industrial Android hardware.
• Troubleshoot application and connectivity issues in real-world mining environments.

D. International Travel & Mine-Site Deployment

• Travel internationally to customer locations and mining sites as required by business and project needs.
• Participate in on-site installation, configuration, testing, commissioning, and deployment of Android-based FMS applications.
• Work directly with mine-site operators, supervisors, dispatch teams, and technical personnel.
• Identify and resolve application issues during live mining operations.
• Support customer demonstrations, user acceptance testing, training, and product handover.
• Coordinate with local technical teams to ensure successful product implementation.
• Be prepared for extended travel assignments, subject to project requirements, applicable visas, and company travel policies.

E. Technical Leadership & Team Collaboration

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level Android developers.
• Lead Android development activities and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
• Collaborate with full-stack developers, QA engineers, DevOps teams, product managers, and hardware specialists.
• Participate in technical architecture discussions and design reviews.
• Identify development risks and recommend practical solutions.
• Ensure timely delivery of assigned application features and technical milestones.
• Contribute to technical documentation, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.

F. Testing, Quality & Performance

• Develop unit tests, integration tests, and automated testing solutions.
• Ensure application stability, reliability, and performance in demanding mining environments.
• Troubleshoot application crashes, memory issues, connectivity failures, and synchronization problems.
• Optimize applications for industrial tablets and extended operational use.
• Coordinate with QA teams to ensure successful validation before deployment.
• Maintain application security, data integrity, and appropriate access controls.

G. Customer & Stakeholder Coordination

• Work with international customers to understand technical and operational requirements.
• Translate mine-site requirements into Android application features and improvements.
• Provide technical updates to product managers and project stakeholders.
• Support issue resolution during product deployment and post-deployment operations.
• Ensure customer feedback is incorporated into product enhancement activities.

Required Experience :

• Minimum 10 years of professional Android application development experience .
• Strong hands-on experience in Kotlin and Java.
• Experience developing complex Android applications with real-time data processing.
• Practical experience with Fleet Management Systems (FMS), preferably in mining or heavy equipment operations.
• Experience integrating Android applications with external hardware, telemetry devices, or industrial equipment.
• Experience developing applications for rugged or industrial Android tablets.
• Experience with deployment, troubleshooting, and technical support at customer sites.
• Experience working with cross-functional and international technical teams.
