Team Lead-Backend(PHP,Python,SQL)

This organization is looking for a hands-on Backend Team Lead to lead backend engineering, technical

execution, team coordination, and production systems. The ideal candidate will combine strong backend

development expertise with the ability to own databases, infrastructure, integrations, deployments, and

production troubleshooting while mentoring and coordinating a small engineering team.

Key Responsibilities

 Lead, mentor, and coordinate the backend engineering team, ensuring effective execution and delivery.

 Design, develop, review, maintain, and optimize backend services, APIs, integrations, and supporting

components.

 Own database architecture, SQL performance, indexing, ETL/data pipelines, and large-scale data

processing.

 Manage Linux servers, Docker services, deployments, and production infrastructure.

 Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues, performance bottlenecks, system failures, and

service interruptions.

 Review pull requests and enforce engineering standards, coding practices, documentation, and code

quality.

 Plan and coordinate feature development, releases, deployments, and technical execution across the

backend function.

 Work closely with frontend, product, sales, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and

translate them into practical technical solutions.

 Contribute hands-on to backend development, architecture decisions, debugging, optimization, and

complex technical problem solving.

 Identify opportunities to improve system reliability, scalability, security, maintainability, and development

processes.

Required Technical Skills

 Strong hands-on experience with PHP and Python.

 Strong SQL knowledge with practical experience in MySQL and/or MariaDB.

 Strong Linux administration and server troubleshooting skills.

 Hands-on experience with Docker, containerized services, and deployment environments.

 Strong backend development experience with REST APIs, integrations, authentication, and service

architecture.

 Strong debugging, root-cause analysis, performance tuning, and production troubleshooting skills.

 Experience with ETL/data pipelines and processing large datasets.

 Experience with Git and standard software development and code review practices.

Leadership & Execution Skills

 Ability to lead and coordinate a small engineering team while remaining hands-on technically.

 Strong ownership and accountability for backend systems and production environments.

 Ability to prioritize tasks, manage technical dependencies, and deliver within agreed timelines.

 Strong communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams.

 Ability to make sound technical decisions and balance speed, quality, scalability, and maintainability.

 Proactive, analytical, and solution-oriented approach to complex engineering problems.

Ideal Candidate

A hands-on backend engineer who can take end-to-end ownership of backend systems, databases,

infrastructure, integrations, deployments, and production issues while effectively leading a small engineering

team. The candidate should be comfortable moving between architecture, coding, debugging, server

management, and team coordination.
