Team Lead Chromatography

The company

An international life science services group with accredited laboratories across Germany. They provide analytical testing for the pharma, food, drinking water, environmental and chemical sectors. The role

You’ll lead an organic chemistry lab team of around 10–15 people, working closely with the Lab Manager. You’ll make sure analyses are delivered on time, on budget and to a high standard.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, train and develop the team. Line management is available if you have leadership experience.
• Plan workflows, resources and capacity, and keep improving them.
• Develop, validate and optimise GC and LC/HPLC methods.
• Maintain ISO/IEC 17025 compliance, and support internal and external audits and corrective actions.
• Oversee QC: blanks, reference materials, proficiency tests and control charts.
• Manage equipment maintenance and calibration and contribute to investment planning.
• Handle complaints and drive process improvements across departments.

What you’ll bring

• A degree in Chemistry, Food Chemistry, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering or similar.
• Several years in an analytical testing lab, ideally environmental, including people leadership.
• Strong hands-on chromatography skills: GC-FID, GC-MS, HPLC and LC-MS/MS.
• Solid knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025, method validation, measurement uncertainty and QC.
• Confidence with LIMS and MS Office. Agilent experience is a plus.
• A structured, decisive and calm approach when sample volumes are high.
• Fluent German, spoken and written.
