ABOUT THE ROLE - NGĀ ĀHUATANGA O TE TŪRANGA

As Team Lead - Development Engineering, you'll be the Council's technical lead for subdivision and land development engineering matters, helping ensure growth across the district delivers high-quality, sustainable infrastructure for our communities.

Working closely with developers, consultants, contractors and Council teams, you'll oversee the engineering aspects of land development proposals, assess resource consent applications, review engineering designs, and ensure infrastructure assets vested to Council meet the standards required for long-term performance and maintenance.

This is a diverse and influential role that combines technical expertise, strategic thinking, and stakeholder engagement. You'll also contribute to the development of engineering standards, growth planning initiatives, and continuous improvement of development engineering processes, playing an important role in supporting the district's ongoing growth and development.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR - KEI TE KIMI MĀTOU I TĒNEI MOMO TANGATA

We're looking for an experienced engineering professional who combines strong technical expertise with effective people leadership. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys supporting and developing others while providing sound technical guidance and helping shape development outcomes across the district.

You will bring a tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering and proven experience in land development, subdivision engineering, infrastructure construction, or local government engineering. You'll have a strong understanding of engineering design and construction standards, resource consenting processes, and the regulatory environment in which local government operates.

You'll be known for your sound engineering judgement, practical approach to problem-solving, and ability to build trusted relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. Whether working with developers, consultants, contractors, elected members, the community, or colleagues across Council, you'll be confident communicating technical information in a clear and practical way.

Most importantly, you'll be someone who takes ownership, leads by example, and is passionate about delivering quality infrastructure and development outcomes that support the future success of the Taupō District.
