TEAM LEAD - POLY - 2nd Shift

As the Off Shift Lead at Superior Tire & Rubber Corporation, you will be responsible for overseeing manufacturing operations within the facility. This position requires technical expertise in operating manufacturing equipment, leadership skills to guide employees, and a commitment to ensuring quality and efficiency in production processes.

Essential Job Functions:

Operational Leadership:

• Provide coaching and training to team members to enhance their skills and productivity.
• Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment to promote team cohesion and morale.
• Guide employee in performing manufacturing operations.
• Ensure adherence to safety protocols and procedures in all activities.
• Monitor machine performance and address any issues or malfunctions promptly.
• Report incidents and implement preventive measures to avoid recurrence.

Technical Expertise:

• Set up and operate a variety of manufacturing equipment.
• Optimize programs for efficiency and quality, utilizing knowledge of parameters and machine capabilities.
• Perform in-process and final inspections of manufactured components.
• Adjust machine settings to achieve desired specifications and tolerances, as instructed.
• Perform routine entry-level maintenance tasks on machines to ensure optimal performance.

Quality Assurance:

• Inspect parts to verify conformance to specifications.
• Identify and troubleshoot quality issues, adjusting as necessary to maintain product quality.
• Implement quality control measures to minimize defects and rework.

Documentation and Reporting:

• Maintain accurate production records, including production reports, inspection logs, and shift summaries.
• Report on production metrics, including output, scrap rates, downtime, and efficiency.
• Provide daily updates, via shift-to-shift communication tools, to management on production performance, issues, and improvement initiatives.

Continuous Improvement:

• Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency enhancements in manufacturing operations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement best practices and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Communication

• Communicate effectively with management, peers, and team members to convey production goals, priorities, and updates.
• Report on production metrics, including output, efficiency, quality, and safety, to management and stakeholders.
• Communicate all changes in shift-to-shift communication tools.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the company.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

• Full Time Non-Exempt
• Monday through Friday OR Sunday through Thursday depending on shift.
• Weekends as needed.
• Required to work onsite 100% of the time.

Travel:

• Limited travel in the Warren area

Work Environment:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a manufacturing environment.
• Percentage of Office – 5%
• Percentage of Travel – 5%
• Percentage of Manufacturing and Distribution - 90%

• Occasional heavy lifting of up to 100 pounds.

Required and Experience:

• High school diploma; AND
• Proven experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or leadership role.

• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick, informed decisions under pressure.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact with diverse teams and stakeholders.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and adapt to changing priorities.
