About Facilitatrix
Facilitatrix is a well-established Western Australian disability organisation providing specialist services to people with disability, their families and support networks. We work with individuals whose lives and support environments can be complex. As a result, we value practitioners who can look beyond behaviour in isolation and understand the person within the context of their relationships, communication, environment, health, culture, history and support systems. We also recognise that good practitioners need good environments themselves. Our model supports flexible working from home, practitioner autonomy, accessible leadership, collaboration and ongoing professional development. We want our team to have the space to do excellent work, while remaining connected to colleagues who can offer support when needed.
A genuine WFH model
Our practitioners work primarily from home while balancing participant visits, stakeholder meetings and regular opportunities to connect with colleagues. You will have flexibility in how you structure your week while remaining part of a collaborative and supportive team.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Behaviour Support Practitioner to join our growing PBS service as Team Lead.
You are someone who understands that effective Positive Behaviour Support is built on curiosity, strong clinical reasoning, meaningful relationships and a genuine commitment to people's rights and quality of life.
You are confident in your practice but continue to ask questions. You can work autonomously while remaining collaborative and connected to others.
Working closely with the PBS Manager, you will guide and support practitioners, strengthen clinical quality and contribute to the ongoing development of the service. You will also maintain your own clinical caseload, delivering practical, person-centred support.
This role suits an established team leader or an experienced practitioner with demonstrated mentoring or supervision experience who is ready to take on formal leadership responsibilities.
Part-time applicants must be available for at least 3 days per week.
Your Responsibilities
Team Leadership and Development
- Provide day-to-day guidance, mentoring and practice support to PBS practitioners.
- Deliver supervision within your demonstrated capability and agreed responsibilities.
- Facilitate case discussions, reflective practice and team learning.
- Support practitioner onboarding, development goals and capability progression.
- Help practitioners manage priorities, workloads and required timeframes.
- Build a connected team culture where practitioners feel comfortable asking questions, seeking support and sharing feedback.
Clinical Quality and Governance
- Review assessments and Behaviour Support Plans, providing clear and constructive feedback.
- Support evidence-informed clinical reasoning, formulation and practical recommendations.
- Help maintain consistent documentation and practice standards.
- Identify and escalate safeguarding concerns, clinical risks and restrictive practice issues.
- Support compliance with relevant NDIS requirements and organisational procedures.
- Work with the PBS Manager to improve clinical resources, processes and service quality.
Direct Clinical Practice
- Complete functional behaviour assessments and develop high-quality Behaviour Support Plans.
- Support participants with complex needs using a human rights and least-restrictive approach.
- Collaborate with participants, families, support teams and other professionals.
- Coach and train stakeholders to implement strategies effectively.
- Monitor outcomes and adapt support based on evidence and participant experience.
- Support the reduction and elimination of restrictive practices wherever possible.
Essential Requirements
- Current Proficient suitability or above under the NDIS Behaviour Support Capability Framework.
- A relevant tertiary qualification in psychology, social work, occupational therapy, speech pathology, education, disability or a related discipline.
- At least 2 years’ experience delivering Positive Behaviour Support, including work with people with complex support needs.
- Demonstrated experience mentoring, supervising or providing clinical guidance to other practitioners.
- Strong functional behaviour assessment, behavioural formulation and Behaviour Support Plan development skills.
- The ability to review clinical work and provide practical, constructive feedback.
- Sound knowledge of restrictive practices, safeguarding and relevant NDIS requirements.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to navigate difficult conversations respectfully.
- The ability to organise your own workload while supporting team priorities and regulatory timeframes.
- A commitment to person-centred, culturally responsive and evidence-informed practice.
Highly Regarded
- Previous experience in a PBS Team Lead or senior clinical role.
- Advanced or Specialist practitioner capability.
- Experience supporting practitioner capability development and portfolio preparation.
- Experience in clinical quality assurance, service improvement or developing practice resources.
