Team Leader, Construction Defect Claims

For our client, we are seeking a Team Leader, Construction Defect Claims to join the team of a leader in the Finance & Insurance space.

This role will lead a high-performing claims team focused on complex construction defect matters, with responsibility for quality, compliance, and effective resolution outcomes. The ideal candidate will bring strong coverage analysis and litigation management experience, along with the ability to coach talent, improve operational performance, and partner with senior leadership on strategic priorities.

The position requires a balance of technical claims expertise and people leadership, with a clear focus on driving service excellence, operational efficiency, and sound claim decision-making.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $125,000 – $165,000 annually

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team handling complex construction defect claims
• Provide oversight on coverage analysis, investigations, and claim resolution
• Manage team workload and ensure effective claim assignment
• Oversee claim quality and compliance with company standards
• Review and approve payments and settlements within authority limits
• Conduct file reviews to ensure technical excellence and compliance
• Drive customer service excellence for all stakeholders
• Analyze trends and implement process improvements for operational efficiency
• Recruit, coach, and retain top claims talent
• Drive performance management and succession planning initiatives
• Partner with senior leadership on strategic objectives
• Engage in special projects as required

Qualifications

• 5+ years of leadership experience in commercial claims, with positions up to Director level
• Significant experience with construction defect claims preferred
• Strong background in coverage analysis and litigation management
• Proven track record in mentoring and developing claims professionals
• Successful history in managing performance and influencing operational results
• Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills
• Excellent communication abilities, both written and verbal
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities effectively
• Experience with claims systems and related technologies
• Bachelor's degree preferred; valid adjuster's license beneficial
