The Installation Team Leader is the on-site operational lead responsible for directing a crew of installation technicians in the safe, accurate, and timely assembly, installation, and derig of custom event builds, props, structures, and themed environments. This role bridges workshop production and live event delivery — ensuring that every build reaches site on time, is installed to specification, and is struck efficiently post-event. The Team Leader is the first point of accountability on site and must command both technical credibility and strong crew management skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Crew Leadership: Lead, brief, and direct a team of 5–15 installation technicians on site, allocating tasks based on skill set and project priority.
  • Site Planning & Preparation: Study installation drawings, site plans, and build schedules in advance; conduct pre-installation site surveys and identify access, rigging, or structural constraints.
  • Installation Execution: Oversee and actively participate in the assembly and installation of large-scale custom builds, furniture, props, draping, lighting rigs, and structural elements to specification.
  • Scheduling & Workflow Management: Manage on-site timelines, coordinate parallel workstreams, and adjust task allocation in real time to maintain delivery schedule.
  • Quality Control: Conduct on-site QC checks at each installation stage to ensure builds match approved drawings, finish standards, and client expectations.
  • Health & Safety Leadership: Enforce site safety protocols, conduct toolbox talks, manage permit-to-work processes, and ensure PPE compliance across the full crew.
  • Client & Stakeholder Interface: Act as the primary on-site contact for clients, venue managers, and project coordinators during installation; escalate issues proactively.
  • Derig & Asset Recovery: Lead the safe and efficient derig of all installations post-event; ensure all company assets are accounted for, undamaged, and loaded for return.
  • Snag Management: Identify, document, and resolve installation snags in real time; escalate structural or design issues to the project manager immediately.
  • Logistics Coordination: Manage vehicle loading/unloading sequences, site access scheduling, and coordination with logistics teams for on-time material delivery.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum 7+ years of experience in event installation, fit-out, exhibition, or live events production — with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a multi-trade crew in a high-pressure, deadline-driven site environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of installation techniques for wood, metal, fabric, and soft furnishing elements.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical installation drawings, CAD plans, and build specifications.
  • Working at Height certification (IPAF/PASMA or equivalent) — mandatory.
  • Manual Handling and First Aid certification preferred.
  • Strong spatial awareness and problem-solving capability to resolve on-site conflicts between design intent and site conditions.
  • Excellent communication skills in English; Arabic language skills advantageous.
  • Valid driving licence with experience operating vans or trucks for site logistics

Typical Working Conditions

  • Environment: Must be able to work in a workshop environment, which may include loud noise, dust, and heat, with some on-site installation work.
  • Hours: May require working evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet event deadlines.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle tight deadlines and to work on site, which may include lifting, standing for long periods, and working in varied conditions.
