Team Leader IT Software Engineering(Java and Python)

POSITION SUMMARY: As a Team Leader IT Software Engineering, you will lead a software engineering team responsible for the development and support of strategic cloud-based applications and services. This role combines people leadership, technical leadership, and delivery ownership to ensure high-quality software solutions aligned with business and organizational objectives

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of software engineers responsible for delivering high-quality software solutions.
• Drive execution of software development activities, ensuring delivery commitments, quality standards, and business objectives are achieved.
• Collaborate with Product Owners, Architects, and stakeholders to define requirements, priorities, and technical solutions.
• Provide hands-on technical guidance and contribute to software development activities when required.
• Provide technical leadership for the design, development, and deployment of applications utilizing Vue.js, Java/Spring Boot, Kafka, and Kubernetes.
• Promote engineering excellence through the adoption of CI/CD, DevOps practices, automated testing, and code quality standards.
• Foster a positive team culture and high-performance environment.
• Lead production support, incident management, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure operational excellence.
• Escalate risks and issues appropriately and ensure alignment with leadership.
• Work with Human Resources to address employee relations issues as needed.
• Support and participate in performance evaluation processes, including reviews and feedback with manager guidance.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in software development, including a minimum of 3 years leading and managing software engineering teams.
• Hands-on technical expertise with the ability to evaluate and refine technical decisions and contribute to software development when required.
• Demonstrated strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Positive, detail-oriented, organized, team-oriented, and self-motivated, with strong problem-solving, prioritization, and leadership skills in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment developing customized technology for Garmin's development portal.
• Experience with Python development and cloud infrastructure technologies is preferred.
