Team Leader – Payroll & Bookkeeping

We are seeking a hands-on leader who will ensure the delivery of exceptional payroll and bookkeeping services, champion process improvement, and help shape smarter, more efficient ways of working through innovation and technology.

You will thrive in this role if you:

• Enjoy understanding client needs, developing tailored solutions and scoping and pricing engagements accordingly
• Own accurate, compliant payroll delivery and be the trusted go-to for tricky payroll queries
• Lead and mentor a payroll & bookkeeping team with coaching, feedback, and holding standards high
• Seek out and drive opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement across processes and systems
• Explore and adopt AI tools to make payroll and reporting smarter
• Provide expert payroll software implementation, training, and advisory support
• Build genuine relationships with clients and colleagues, even through difficult conversations

About you

• 5+ years' payroll experience, 2+ years leading a team
• Strong grasp of New Zealand employment legislation & bookkeeping
• Expertise in using multiple software packages, particularly iPayroll, Smart Payroll, Xero Payroll, Employment Hero
• You are proactive and have a can-do attitude . You spot problems and act
• You love variety and can juggle multiple clients, team members and deadlines with a calm head.
