Incorporated in 1938, Hazeldene’s Chicken Farm is a leading FMCG company headquartered in Lockwood (Bendigo), Victoria. At Hazeldenes, we have more than 80 years of history underpinning how we proudly go about our business. It is not just about our delicious chickens, innovation and commitment to quality. It is about our people doing extraordinary things to deliver great products.

At Hazeldenes, we are proud of our people, our reputation and our place in the community. From humble beginnings in Kangaroo Flat in Bendigo, our facilities have expanded across rural Victoria. Our people come from many different cultures and backgrounds and have skills ranging from farming and quality control to engineering and poultry processing.

About the Role

We are currently seeking two Team Leaders to join our Primary Processing team across Live Hang and Spin Chill.

These are hands on leadership roles where you will spend the majority of your time on the production floor, leading teams, ensuring operational efficiency, and maintaining high standards of safety, quality and performance.

You will play a critical role in supervising daily operations, supporting team capability, and driving a strong culture of accountability, safety and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading from the front on the production floor and supporting daily operations
  • Supervising teams to meet production targets, quality standards and safety requirements
  • Managing staff allocation, rotations and break planning for optimal efficiency
  • Coaching, mentoring and developing team members to improve performance and engagement
  • Supporting onboarding and on the job training of new employees
  • Monitoring production flow and escalating operational issues as required
  • Ensuring compliance with GMP, HACCP, animal welfare and food safety standards
  • Promoting and enforcing workplace safety, including incident reporting and safety observations
  • Supporting return to work processes and maintaining a safe work environment
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives across processes and team performance
  • Maintaining accurate reporting on production, safety and team performance metrics
  • Building a positive team culture focused on accountability, respect and results

About You

You are a hands on leader who is confident working on the production floor and leading teams in a fast paced environment. You are reliable, practical and able to manage people, performance and operational challenges effectively.

  • Previous experience in a team leader or supervisory role within manufacturing or food processing
  • Strong leadership and people management capability
  • Ability to work in a physically active, fast paced production environment
  • Good understanding of safety, quality and compliance requirements
  • Strong communication and problem solving skills
  • Reliable, committed and able to lead by example
  • Own reliable transport and valid driver licence (no public transport to site)
  • Availability to work early morning shifts

Shift & Role Requirements (Important Information)

These are full time roles based in Lockwood with fixed early morning shifts of either:

  • Between 12:30am to 10:30am (Live Hang) or
  • Between 12:50am to 10:50am (Spin Chill)

With one position available in each team. These roles operate strictly within Primary Processing, and applicants will be considered for these specific roles and shift times only. Flexibility across other departments or shifts is not available, and a commitment to ongoing, long term employment is important due to the training and leadership responsibilities involved in these positions.

Benefits

  • Competitive hourly rate with penalty rates for early morning shifts
  • Extra $500 bonus, $250 on start + $250 at 6 months
  • Stable permanent full time employment
  • Career progression into senior leadership roles
  • Supportive team environment
