Tech Lead Java & Angular

Requirements

• 9+ years of professional experience in software development, with proven experience leading technical teams or complex technical projects.
• Deep expertise in Java 17 / 21 , including object-oriented programming, design patterns, clean code and software architecture.
• Strong experience with Spring Boot 3.x, Spring Cloud, Maven and Git .
• 9+ years of experience with Angular , preferably with knowledge of recent versions — differential .
• Strong experience with RESTful API design , API-first strategies and secure microservices architectures.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD automation , particularly Jenkins, XL Deploy and XL Release.
• Strong knowledge of SQL databases , particularly Oracle; NoSQL knowledge is a plus.
• Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) — differential — including GKE, Cloud Run, App Engine, Cloud SQL, Spanner and Cloud Storage.
• Knowledge of Cloud Build and Cloud Functions is a plus.
• Experience with cloud-native applications, microservices and cloud migration initiatives .
• Strong knowledge of Agile methodologies , particularly Scrum / Kanban, and tools such as Jira.
• Strong architectural, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Proven experience in technical leadership, mentoring and knowledge sharing .
• Fluent English — minimum B2/C1 / mandatory .
• Proactive, collaborative, team-oriented and client-focused mindset.
• Availability to work in a hybrid regime, 2 days per week from the Porto or Lisbon office .
• Availability to travel abroad for short periods , when required.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary technical reference and authority within the Agile development team, guiding technical decisions throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Define the technical vision and contribute to the architecture, design and evolution of the application.
• Architect, design and oversee the development of testable, efficient, scalable, reusable and high-quality software .
• Define the front-end architecture and lead the implementation of user-friendly, high-performance interfaces using Angular .
• Lead the design, deployment and management of cloud-native applications and microservices on GCP .
• Drive and support cloud migration, modernization and optimization initiatives .
• Collaborate with Product Owners and cross-functional stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable technical and architectural solutions.
• Ensure secure and efficient API integration and communication between front-end, back-end and cloud services .
• Establish, enforce and continuously improve coding standards and engineering best practices .
• Lead code reviews and promote technical excellence across the development team.
• Troubleshoot, debug and profile complex application issues, optimizing performance, scalability and user experience .
• Define and oversee release management strategies , automating platform releases across hybrid and cloud environments.
• Proactively coordinate releases and technical dependencies with other teams.
• Mentor and coach junior, mid-level and senior developers , fostering continuous learning and technical growth.
• Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends, identifying opportunities for innovation and continuous technical evolution .
• Bridge the gap between business requirements and high-quality software architecture , ensuring technical solutions remain aligned with business objectives.
• Collaborate closely with teams across Porto and Paris to ensure effective technical coordination and delivery.
