Tech Lead - Software Development

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Tech Lead to guide our development team in Mérida and help drive the technical direction of our core platform, a mature production system with extensive functionality and complex business logic.

This role combines technical leadership, team coordination, and client-facing technical guidance. The ideal candidate will guide the Mexico team, collaborate closely with the international development team, and work with Project Managers and clients to turn business requirements into practical technical solutions.

While hands-on development remains important, the primary focus is on providing technical direction, supporting sound engineering decisions, and ensuring development work aligns with the platform's architecture and business requirements.

Excellent English communication skills are essential for collaborating with international teams and participating in client discussions.

Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

• Guide the team on solution design, technical approaches, and problem-solving.
• Evaluate proposed solutions and make sound technical decisions based on existing architecture and business requirements.
• Maintain engineering standards, review code, mentor developers and maintain development quality.

Cross-Team Coordination

• Act as the primary technical liaison between the Mexico and Nepal development teams.
• Clarify requirements, align implementation approaches, and coordinate technical dependencies.

Client Collaboration

• Join client meetings with the Project Manager when technical input is needed.
• Assess client requirements against existing platform capabilities and limitations.
• Recommend practical solutions and explain technical trade-offs, risks, and impacts.

Continuous Improvement

• Promote consistent development practices and effective collaboration.
• Encourage responsible use of AI coding assistants while maintaining code quality, security, and reliability.
• Identify opportunities to improve development workflows and system maintainability.

Requirements

• Proven experience leading software development teams in a senior technical leadership role.
• Strong senior-level software engineering fundamentals and the ability to make sound technical decisions independently (this is not an entry-level role).
• Experience working with large, mature software applications and navigating complex codebases.
• Ability to understand existing system architecture, business logic, and cross-module dependencies.
• Experience guiding developers, reviewing technical solutions, and establishing development standards.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to developers, Project Managers, and clients.
• Excellent command of English, both written and spoken (C1 level).
• Experience working with distributed development teams and coordinating technical work across locations.
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools and the ability to evaluate AI-generated code critically.

• Backend: .NET
• Database: Microsoft SQL Server
• Frontend: AngularJS and Angular 14
• Development Practices: Code reviews, software architecture, API development, reporting, and AI-assisted development.

• Experience working with international or distributed development teams.
• Experience participating in client discussions and translating business requirements into technical solutions.
• Experience maintaining legacy systems while supporting ongoing development and modernization.
• Experience with API integrations, reporting systems, and complex business applications.
