Headquartered in Chennai, India, Ramco serves over 1,000 customers across 35+ countries and is recognized for its AI/ML-based , bot-enabled , and cloud-native solutions.
Our platform is designed for digital operations—trusted by governments, Fortune 500 companies, and high-growth enterprises alike.
If you’re looking to be part of a company that combines innovation, global exposure, and a mission to disrupt legacy systems with intelligent enterprise applications— Ramco is the place to be.
ROLE OVERVIEW
The Technical Architect – Platform is a core technical anchor, driving the architectural evolution of Ramco’s multi-tier SaaS platform across Global Payroll, HR, Aviation MRO, ERP, and Logistics .
You will architect and deliver resilient APIs, microservices, and platform services that support complex enterprise customer scenarios, while materially improving deployment velocity, system reliability, and low-latency performance.
This is a hands-on senior engineering role, not a management one. Influence comes from the quality of the systems you design and the engineers you raise — setting the standard for clean code, robust systems thinking, and long-term ownership, and turning business intent into software that holds up under enterprise load.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Architecture & Roadmap Execution
- Own and deliver the technical roadmap for your engineering domain.
- Design, document, and execute scalable, cost-efficient, low-latency platform solutions.
- Partner with Architecture, Product Management, Design, QA, Operations, and Customer Success to translate business vision into integrated, high-performing software.
Hands-On Platform Development
- Write clean, maintainable, high-performance code — building APIs and core platform features that scale with Ramco’s global growth.
- Build and evolve microservices and web-layer platform capabilities for complex enterprise scenarios.
System Health & Technical Debt
- Identify critical architectural bottlenecks and accumulated technical debt.
- Design and drive practical, iterative refactoring plans without compromising business delivery.
Operational Excellence & Production Leadership
- Take ownership of complex production issues in distributed SaaS environments.
- Drive deep-dive root cause analysis and implement permanent preventive safeguards.
Engineering Quality & Standards
- Establish rigorous engineering standards through code reviews, automated testing, and CI/CD pipeline integration.
- Continuously raise the quality bar across the domain rather than policing it case by case.
Mentorship & Talent Development
- Coach and develop engineers across functions, elevating problem-solving, systems thinking, and operational discipline.
- Act as a technical role model for clean coding standards and long-term product ownership.
Security & Compliance
- Ensure platform designs and engineering practices align with Ramco’s information security standards and regulatory compliance obligations.
- Build security and compliance considerations into design, not into remediation.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
- Platform services that hold latency and availability targets as customer load grows.
- Releases that ship faster and more safely than they did a year ago.
- Technical debt addressed steadily rather than deferred until it forces a rewrite.
- Production incidents that do not recur, because the fix addressed the cause.
- Engineers around you who design better systems than they did before you arrived.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
- 12 to 15 years of hands-on software engineering and systems or platform engineering experience in modern distributed SaaS environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Expert-level mastery of Java (Spring / Spring Boot) or Python for high-scale backend services.
- Deep proficiency in multi-tier application architecture, microservices design, RESTful APIs, messaging queues, and database layer optimisation.
- Exceptional command of data structures, algorithms, advanced object-oriented programming, and design patterns.
- Advanced knowledge of Linux internals, production debugging, log analysis, and system telemetry in distributed cloud and SaaS environments.
- Strong experience with CI/CD automation, unit and integration testing frameworks, and writing clean, maintainable code with minimal abstraction.
- Proven track record owning end-to-end architecture and technical strategy for large-scale products or core platform infrastructure.
- Demonstrated history of building, shipping, and maintaining high-availability, low-latency, high-throughput systems under demanding release schedules.
- Extensive experience influencing multi-disciplinary teams — Product, QA, Operations, Design — to reach consensus and alignment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, able to articulate complex technical trade-offs to both technical panels and executive stakeholders.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with cloud-native platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and container orchestration.
- Exposure to event-driven architectures such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
- Experience with enterprise domains such as payroll, HCM, ERP, aviation MRO, or logistics.
- Familiarity with AI/ML-enabled platform capabilities in an enterprise SaaS context.
WHY JOIN RAMCO SYSTEMS
- Shape the architecture of a platform serving over 1,000 customers across 35+ countries.
- Deep technical scope across APIs, microservices, and distributed systems at enterprise scale.
- A senior engineering track where influence comes from systems and mentorship, not headcount.
- Be part of a fast-evolving, innovation-led enterprise software company.
