The Role

We're looking for a Cyber Technical Business Analyst to join a high-profile log-source onboarding project for a Sydney-based client. This is a three-month contract engagement, ideal for someone who thrives on structured delivery, enjoys working closely with security engineering teams, and can bridge the gap between technical detail and business requirements. You'll be working at the coalface of a SIEM onboarding program, helping to ensure log sources are identified, prioritised, and integrated correctly to strengthen the client's detection and response capability.

What You'll Do

• You will work closely with the security operations and engineering teams to identify, document, and prioritise log sources across the client's environment, ensuring each source is mapped against use cases and detection requirements.
• You will run and facilitate workshops with technical and business stakeholders to gather onboarding requirements, translating these into clear documentation that the engineering team can action.
• You will track the progress of onboarding activities against the project plan, flagging risks and dependencies early, and maintaining accurate records of what has been onboarded, tested, and validated.
• You will liaise with vendors and internal teams to resolve technical blockers, and you will report progress to project stakeholders in a clear and consistent manner, keeping everyone aligned on timelines and outcomes.

What You'll Need

• You will need proven experience as a business analyst within a cybersecurity or SIEM environment, ideally with direct exposure to log-source onboarding, use case development, or security monitoring projects.
• You will need a solid understanding of how log sources feed into detection and response capability, along with the ability to communicate confidently with both technical engineers and business stakeholders.
• Strong documentation skills are essential, as is the ability to manage competing priorities across a fast-moving project.
• You will need to be based in Sydney and available to work on-site with the client as required, and prior experience working within consulting or professional services environments will be highly regarded.
