Valcon are currently looking for an experienced Technical Business Analyst to join our UK team on a permanent basis. We’re looking for someone with previous consultancy experience who is comfortable working at the intersection of business, technology and delivery , translating complex business requirements into clear technical solutions.

The role

As a Technical Business Analyst, you’ll work closely with clients, architects, engineers, product owners and delivery teams to understand business challenges and translate them into clear, actionable technical requirements.

You’ll play an important role in bridging the gap between business and technology, supporting the design and delivery of technology-enabled transformation.

Responsibilities

• Gather, analyse and document business, functional and technical requirements .
• Translate business needs into clear technical requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria and process/system specifications .
• Work closely with software engineers, solution architects, product owners and technical delivery teams throughout the development lifecycle.
• Analyse existing systems, processes, data flows and integrations to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Support the definition of system integrations, APIs, interfaces and data requirements .
• Facilitate workshops and technical discussions with business and technology stakeholders.
• Support product owners in developing and refining epics, features and user stories .
• Identify dependencies, risks, assumptions and technical constraints throughout delivery.
• Support testing activities including test scenarios, acceptance criteria, UAT and defect resolution.
• Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Manage requirements and maintain traceability throughout the full change and development lifecycle.

Experience

We’re looking for someone with:

• Around 5+ years’ Business Analysis experience , with strong exposure to technology-led projects and programmes.
• Previous experience working within a consultancy or client-facing environment .
• Strong experience translating business requirements into technical and functional requirements .
• Experience working alongside engineering, architecture, product and delivery teams .
• A good understanding of systems integrations, APIs, data flows and application architectures .
• Experience working within Agile/Scrum delivery teams , including backlog refinement, user stories and acceptance criteria.
• Experience with business process modelling and requirements elicitation techniques.
• A good understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and different delivery approaches, including Agile and Waterfall.
• Experience supporting testing activities, UAT and the development of test scenarios.
• Strong stakeholder management and workshop facilitation skills.
• The ability to move confidently between detailed technical conversations and higher-level business objectives .
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Desirable: Business Analysis and/or Agile qualifications and experience working on complex digital transformation, systems implementation or integration programmes.
