Technical Business Analyst

Uplift People Consulting is partnering with a global services organisation to recruit a Technical Business Analyst & Application Liaison in Tokyo.

This role connects Japanese client stakeholders with global technology teams. You will translate business needs into clear technical requirements, support application-related queries and issues, and coordinate delivery activities with guidance from senior technical experts.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the day-to-day technology contact for Japanese client stakeholders.
• Gather and clarify business needs, translating them into technical requirements, user stories and functional specifications.
• Provide application functional support, including initial issue analysis, impact assessment and escalation.
• Coordinate with application, infrastructure, security and integration teams to drive issues and requirements through to closure.
• Participate in client meetings, technical workshops, UAT, release readiness and implementation activities.
• Track actions, risks, dependencies, changes and decisions, ensuring clear ownership and timely follow-up.
• Prepare status reports, meeting minutes, dashboards and management updates.
• Communicate effectively in Japanese and English between local stakeholders and global delivery teams.

What We’re Looking For

• Approximately 8 years of relevant experience across technical business analysis, application functional support, IT delivery or similar client-facing technology roles.
• Fluent Japanese , with the ability to independently lead client discussions and produce clear professional documentation.
• Strong English communication skills for collaboration with international teams.
• A good understanding of applications, APIs, integrations, databases, infrastructure and IT service management.
• Experience turning business discussions into structured requirements and actionable delivery items.
• Strong stakeholder management, analytical thinking, documentation and follow-through.
• Confidence working independently while seeking senior technical guidance when needed.

Experience working with government stakeholders is an advantage. Hands-on coding and formal people management are not prerequisites.
