Technical / CAD Engineer

Country Gates & Barriers is looking for a skilled Technical / CAD Engineer to join our team at our Stockport office.

We design, supply, install and maintain automated gates, barriers, fencing and access control systems. We are looking for someone who combines excellent CAD skills with a practical engineering background and can turn site information and customer requirements into accurate, workable designs.

Experience within the gate and barrier industry would be highly desirable. We would also welcome applications from candidates with relevant experience in mechanical engineering, steel fabrication, architectural metalwork or similar sectors.

The role

You will work closely with our sales, project and installation teams, producing technical drawings and helping develop solutions that can be manufactured and installed efficiently.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Producing detailed CAD drawings for gates, barriers, fencing and associated installations.
• Preparing customer approval drawings, site layouts and fabrication details.
• Translating site surveys, measurements and specifications into clear, accurate drawings.
• Developing practical engineering solutions, considering dimensions, materials, clearances and installation requirements.
• Reviewing and updating drawings following customer feedback or changes to the project.
• Liaising with suppliers, fabricators and internal teams to resolve technical queries.
• Maintaining organised drawing records and revision control.

What we are looking for

• A high level of proficiency in CAD, with strong attention to detail.
• A relevant engineering background and a sound understanding of how designs are manufactured and installed.
• Experience producing technical and fabrication drawings.
• The ability to identify potential design issues and suggest practical solutions.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• The ability to manage several projects and work to agreed deadlines.

Desirable experience

• Automated gates, barriers, fencing or access control systems.
• Steel fabrication, moving mechanical assemblies and gate operating arrangements.
• An understanding of automated gate safety requirements.

Pay: £39,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
