Fire Alarm Contracts Manager

Worcestershire & Herefordshire | £47,000 to £50,000 + Company Vehicle + Commission + Benefits

Full Time | Permanent | Field Based

Take ownership of a major fire and security contract

Lantern Fire and Security Ltd is looking for an experienced and commercially minded Fire Alarm Contracts Manager to manage and develop a significant multi-site contract across Worcestershire and Herefordshire.

This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong technical background in fire alarm systems who enjoys working with customers, supporting engineers and developing installation and refurbishment projects.

We're looking for someone who can take real ownership of a contract, build strong relationships with the customer and ensure that everything runs smoothly, professionally and profitably.

This is not a purely office based management position. You will be actively involved in site visits, technical surveys, customer meetings, supporting engineers and identifying opportunities for additional work.

You'll have the backing of an established national fire and security company, experienced engineering teams and dedicated operational support.

About Lantern

Lantern Fire and Security Ltd is a well established national fire and security company providing maintenance, installation and technical support to major commercial and public sector organisations throughout the UK.

We are accredited by NSI Gold and BAFE and are an approved Honeywell Gent partner.

Our customers include healthcare organisations, universities, local authorities and major commercial businesses.

The Role

You will take responsibility for the day to day management and commercial development of a key regional contract, becoming the main point of contact for the customer and supporting our engineering teams.

Your responsibilities will include:

Contract Management and Customer Relationships

  • Take ownership of the contract's performance, service delivery and customer relationships.
  • Develop excellent working relationships with customer representatives, facilities teams and site managers.
  • Attend contract meetings, site visits and performance reviews.
  • Ensure planned maintenance, reactive works and remedial activities are delivered efficiently.
  • Support engineers with technical issues, difficult faults and operational challenges.
  • Monitor outstanding jobs, quotations, service performance and customer requirements.
  • Resolve problems promptly and maintain excellent communication.

Technical Surveys and Project Development

  • Carry out technical surveys of existing fire alarm installations.
  • Identify opportunities for fire alarm upgrades, replacements, refurbishment projects and remedial works.
  • Prepare accurate quotations, specifications and proposals.
  • Work closely with our installation and estimating teams to develop competitive, profitable solutions.
  • Follow up quotations and develop opportunities into confirmed projects.
  • Support the planning and delivery of additional installation works.
  • Help customers plan improvements to their existing fire and life safety systems.

Commercial Responsibility

  • Take an active role in ensuring the contract operates profitably.
  • Understand contract pricing, labour costs, materials and project margins.
  • Ensure additional works and variations are correctly identified, quoted and authorised.
  • Monitor outstanding quotations, completed works and invoicing.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and commercial performance.
  • Proactively develop additional business through strong customer relationships and sound technical advice.

What we're looking for

We need someone who understands fire alarm systems technically but is equally comfortable managing customers, surveying projects and taking commercial responsibility.

You should have:

  • Significant experience in the fire alarm industry, ideally as a Contracts Manager, Technical Manager, Senior Engineer or Supervisor.
  • Strong fire alarm servicing, installation, commissioning and fault finding knowledge.
  • The ability to survey existing installations and identify system upgrade requirements.
  • Experience preparing quotations and estimating installation works.
  • A good working knowledge of BS 5839 and relevant fire safety standards.
  • The confidence to support engineers and resolve technical issues.
  • Excellent customer communication and relationship management skills.
  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of project profitability.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to take ownership of problems.
  • A full UK driving licence.

Experience with the following would be beneficial:

  • Honeywell Gent, Advanced, Kentec, Notifier or Protec systems.
  • Managing large commercial, healthcare or public sector contracts.
  • Fire alarm design, technical surveys and estimating.
  • Managing refurbishment programmes and fire alarm replacement projects.
  • Working within an NSI Gold or BAFE accredited company.

We are happy to consider an experienced Senior Fire Alarm Engineer who has the technical knowledge, commercial awareness and ambition to progress into contract management.

What we offer

  • £47,000 to £50,000 basic salary, depending on experience.
  • Commission structure
  • Company car or vehicle.
  • Fuel card.
  • Company laptop and mobile phone.
  • 23 days holiday plus bank holidays.
  • Holiday buyback scheme.
  • Company pension.
  • Health and wellbeing support.
  • Ongoing technical and manufacturer training.
  • Support from an experienced operations and compliance team.
  • A genuine opportunity to take ownership of a significant customer relationship and help develop the business.

Working hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 17:00.

Location: Field based across Worcestershire and Herefordshire. Ideally based in Worcester, Hereford or the surrounding areas.

Why join Lantern?

This is a position where you'll have genuine responsibility and the opportunity to make a difference.

We're looking for someone who takes pride in doing things properly, enjoys building customer relationships and has the technical knowledge and commercial awareness to identify opportunities and deliver successful projects.

You won't simply be managing a diary of engineers. You'll be helping shape the future of a major contract, developing new opportunities and playing an important part in the continued growth of Lantern.

If you're an experienced fire alarm professional looking for a position with greater responsibility, variety and the opportunity to make your mark, we'd like to hear from you.

Apply with your CV for an informal and confidential discussion.
