What they need
Open Medical was founded by doctors who strongly believe innovation can deliver smarter, faster care. We are the digital health experts behind the award-winning clinical workflow platform, Pathpoint. Everything we build is driven by four convictions: better health outcomes for patients, improved working conditions for clinicians, cost-effectiveness for healthcare providers, and long-term environmental sustainability.
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Technical Delivery Manager (Clinical Systems) to lead a team of Configuration Specialists. In this role, you will bridge the gap between complex clinical workflows and technical execution.
You will not just manage tasks; you will deep-dive into clinical software workflows, integrations, and platform architecture to guide your team, unblock technical hurdles, and ensure high-quality delivery. You will also be responsible for running daily scrum standups and managing Jira tickets as well as coordinate complex deployments across the operational teams, and own the technical documentation ecosystem.
This is a full-time, office based role in Ealing Broadway, London.
Key Responsibilities1. Team Leadership & Technical Guidance
- Lead & Mentor: Manage a small team of Configuration Specialists, fostering a collaborative, high-performance environment.
- Technical Advisory: Provide technical and workflow guidance to the team during configuration, integration design, and troubleshooting phases. Liaising directly with the senior technical team and coordinating execution of plans and actions with delivery teams.
- Quality Assurance: Review configuration designs and integration schemas providing support for QA scenarios and processes to ensure scalability, security, and alignment with clinical best practices.
- Delivery & Release Management
- Project Coordination: Oversee timelines, dependencies, and deliverables for specific project implementations and platform-level changes.
- Release & Deployment: Coordinate the deployment of new features, upgrades, and hotfixes across various environments (Dev, Staging, Production), ensuring minimal disruption to clinical operations. Leading internal and external communication related to live deployments.
- Risk Mitigation: Identify project risks and technical bottlenecks early, developing proactive mitigation strategies.
- Agile Facilitation & Process Ownership
- Scrum Master: Facilitate daily scrum meetings and manage Jira tickets.
- Efficiency Optimisation: Continuous optimisation of the team's sprint velocity and configuration lifecycle management.
- Technical Documentation
- Knowledge Base Ownership: Author, maintain, and organise comprehensive technical documentation, including workflow diagrams, integration specifications, configuration guides, and release notes.
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): Maintain clear SOPs for configuration management and deployment protocols.
Required Experience and QualificationsEducation & Experience
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in technical project management, delivery management, or a senior technical implementation role within the healthcare IT space.
- Leadership: 2+ years of experience directly managing or leading technical/configuration teams.
Technical & Workflow Skills
- Clinical Software Expertise: Deep understanding of clinical software architectures (e.g., EHR/EMR systems, PAS, LIS, or RIS platforms).
- Integrations & Standards: Strong familiarity with healthcare integration standards (HL7, FHIR, DICOM) and interface engines (e.g., Mirth Connect, Cloverleaf).
- Workflow Mapping: Proven ability to translate complex clinical operational workflows into technical software configurations.
- Regulatory Standards: ISO27001, DCB0129, IG/GDPR
- Cloud Infrastructure: Working knowledge of cloud platforms and infrastructure concepts relevant to deploying and scaling clinical software.
- Networking & Security: Solid understanding of networking fundamentals and firewall configuration (e.g., ports, VPNs, TLS, IP whitelisting).
- Quality Assurance: Strong grounding in QA principles and testing methodologies, with the ability to define, guide, and evaluate test scenarios for clinical configurations and integrations — ensuring edge cases and clinical safety risks are identified before release.
Agile & Tools
- Agile Proficiency: Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or equivalent practical experience running agile teams.
- Tooling: Proficiency with project management and documentation tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence).
Soft Skills & Attributes
- Bridging the Gap: Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate technical jargon into clinical/business terms, and vice versa.
- Problem Solver: An analytical mindset with a passion for untangling complex workflow dependencies.
- Detail-Oriented: A strict eye for documentation accuracy and deployment checklist compliance.
- Rapid Knowledge Absorption: Quickly synthesise highly technical data, project architectures, and specialised workflows to understand the "big picture" and immediate project impacts.
